Ok, Sense on Droid!!! Soon... :D

hah, LOL

Ok.....where do I start.

Yes it was Sense. Horribly broken Sense though :D :D
Sense though.

So here's what I ran into, all the touch zones work, and everything on an interface level was functional. All those widgets loaded, and all the HTC PIM programs worked. There was some really awesome stuff that worked..........just in low res.

Perfect example, the weather widget is suppose to take up half the screen, except it's only taking up 1/4 of the screen because its lo-res. This ROM dump/port is CLEARLY not a wvga compatible setup. This is qvga, beautiful, but in every aspect it showed.

They keyboard, was also lo-res and extremely tiny. I showed it to my wife, she didn't find it as hilarious as I did, but her take was more like "Why would you DO THAT TO your phone???"

Cause....I have a Nandroid backup...thas why :D

k, one other thing, folks were posting over there about it being a bad link, you have to have the latest SPR and do a format/wipe and wipe the cache. I know it's an update.zip, but the update.zip is the full deal, treat it like a full install.

Anyhow, that was an interesting half hour, back to my stock 2.0.1...

The work I'm particularly interested in was RonDutt's work, he photoshopped some of the graphics resources and fixed some xml files. From his description everything was sized right and looked correct, but the touch zones were still trying to behave at the lower resolutions. I can't imagine typing anything with the keyboard like that since you'd have no idea where to type.

Another thing, this alpha, on a system level is sooooo totally wacky. There are wifi issues, bluetooth issues, and Verizon issues. In short, this disables your device. In long...well if wifi breaks for example, reboot. If bluetooth breaks, reboot. How often to you reboot? Often, I rebooted about 4x in this short time I was trying this out because wifi kept dying or the audio would quit, and I'd expect that with more testing tons of other stuff I wasn't noticing would quit or was about to quit.

Sense itself locked up on me and I got prompted to do a force quit.

Lol I do have to say you're braver than I am! Thanks for the write up. I would imagine reworking all the low res images and such would take FOREVER! That's going to end up being a ground up build of Sense it sounds like. I hope the devs are up to the work cuz it would be awesome to rock that on my Droid!

I was looking in the dragon ROM dump, and there are some high res assets in there. High res meaning 800x480, it would still look a bit off since Droid uses 854x480. The only thing needing photoshop would be the background in that case. A widget designed for 800x480 would look great, same for the hi-res version of the keyboard.

I'm thinking that Espresso was just made without any hi-res thought. Honestly, I don't like Espresso as much as the current stock Sense.

This would be very cool to see. Still kind of waiting to see what the potential is of all the VZW android phones before i commit. I HATE BLACKBERRIES!!!! haha
