ok..what is going on?

Ok so i RE purchased this device, this time i bit the bullet and got a plan. 15 bucks a month unlimited through t-mobile. pretty decent deal for what i need.

So i buy the watch.

1 - can i use skype? NOPE.

skype loaded forever.. and works zero unless guess what.. teathered to my phone.

so much for standalone

2- can i use google maps? NOPE even with a sim card it wont work. i drove around, "How do i get to starbucks" asks me to OPEN ON MY PHONE..wtf?? what is the point of having GPS in the phone AND a phone plan if i have to do everything with my phone??

3 - for whatever reason can not add either of my 2 credit cards.

so far this is not looking very good.

can i make phone calls? it seems so. does google assistant work? yes.

but i didnt pay 400 bucks + 15 dollars a month to ask it questions.

Not sure what you are doing wrong. I added cc no problem. Google maps works fine without the phone. I'll try Skype and report back. Are all your settings right?

Android pay only works with bank cards I think.

im not sure. im using T mobile but the watch tells me to open google maps on my phone even with ceullular. try google maps without your phone, turn it off, go away from wifi, make sure you are on cellular. if it works for you then im very interested to know whats going on.

my Bank card AND my paypal card said it wont work. skype is the same, IF my phone is open i can see a list of messages but i cant respond or initiate

well i have a key bank card but im sure ill figure that out, im not terribly worried about that.

honestly my main concern is the google maps. i just tried it again and it still tells me to connect to my phone and try again. or couldnt find navigation.

so im getting signal strength in cellular, but it also says Network state: Disconnected. so im not really sure whats going on

Is this the standalone rate for wearables? Possibly with a wearable SIM? If so, the wearable SIM only works with t mobile devices. Many have unsuccessfully tried it in the Sport and Urbane 2.

hm well SOME of the thigns work HALF the time.

I can get phone calls, Skype works half the time, if i see the message i SOMETIMES can respond to it which i am fine with,

i have yet to have google maps work even once.

it always tells me to connect to my phone or open on phone or couldnt start navigation.

but the connection says LTE connected on Tmobile,

tonight when i tried OK GOOGLE it didnt work, but i have used it before so im not sure if it was just down or if something is going on.

The problem is nothing is consistent so im not really sure whats going on.

Sounds like a LTE connection issue. Call tmobile tech support

alright will do.

was out all day, turned off bluetooth and wifi just to be sure, google assistant worked fine. STILL cant use google maps. as of right now its just a very expensive phone / google assistant. spotify wont open, not sure what else i can do.

The intermittency is strange... Have you tried using another SIM? The watch should work with any SIM provisioned for a smartphone plan. So try swapping it with the one in your phone, or get a cheap PAYG to try out.

its like.. i have half a working product.

Skype keeps trying to load.. yet i get skype notifications..but when it lets me respond to them it says connection failed.. wtf?

Maybe I'm missing something but LTE only works with AT&T and Verizon - no T-Mobile.

duno but sim status says Network: T-mobile Network type: LTE .

Phone number, google assistant, browsing the playstore all works from cellular, phone is off , wifi / blue tooth turned off so its definately working. however google maps refuses to connect.

and even now it says Network disconnected.

The problems you're having could be caused by a SIM provisioning issue. Swapping out the SIM for one that you know works would identify or eliminate that possibility.

So i took it to ATT and their master tech guru guy was stumped as well. they even got another watch, set it up with a different sim / account and couldnt get it to work on that one either.

can someon verify or take a video of them using google maps with the watch only? as in Wifi = OFF blue tooth OFF only cellular?

and by using google maps, i mean " OK google, how do i get to X" and it opens google and gives you directions
