I like to keep the Epic connected to my workstatio's USB port at work. Is this okay on the battery? There is some sort of charge cutoff function right?

It will stop charging when it is fully charged, but I will be interested in the answers you get here. I've wondered if it reduces the overall battery life, because it is constantly being topped off whenever the charge is slightly depleted.

My guess is that it will significantly shorten the lifespan of the battery, causing the need for early replacements.

Yeah, o[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]nce the battery is fully charged, no further charge is applied. There's circuitry in the battery to prevent this.

And frequent top offs actually prolong the life of the battery. Deep discharges are not good.

oh good. Now i can finally turn off my alarm that i have set to go off in the middle of the night so that I can unplug my phone from the charger

Thanks for the reply , not to question your accuracy but do you have research or resources to support this?

How to prolong lithium-based batteries

A lithium-ion battery provides 300-500 discharge/charge cycles. The battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible. Instead, charge the battery more often or use a larger battery. There is no concern of memory when applying unscheduled charges.

If you have the Desk Docking Station, it pops up with a "Battery is Fully Charged. Please Unplug charger" (or something to that effect) message when it is at 100%.....sometimes I'll unplug it if I get the message during the day, but never at night.

My phone pops up with this message after its been on my wall charger all night.
I was concerned if by not unplugging it i may be doing it harm.
