Old Information about the Note 7 Recall

Re: Time to switch

Lord have mercy. Reading is fundamental. No, I am sorry comprehension is fundamental. "Drama effect" for whoever is saying that Samsung will disable the phone remotely. Please re-read my post. Not for the whole Note 7 catching fire or not, or who is sticking with it, keeping it or not.
Ladies and gents I am done. Have a great night....;)
Samsung and the wireless providers will disable the phones if people don't return them. The last recall was evidence of that by shorting the battery life to 60%. Sorry it's hard for you to understand but safety is first and they will do what they have too to protect the human race.

Re: Time to switch

Sir, please name the last phone that was remotely killed by a carrier or a company? I mean I don't know one. So please educate me. And not that they don't have the capacity to do so. But when have they "done" so?
Also where did I ever mention that I will keep the zombie Note 7? No one is disputing the fact that carriers are stopping or halting their sales. My whole post was about disabling the phone......Not sure what yours was about.

Tell me the last time we had a situation like we currently have. Where 2.5 million defective, potentially dangerous phones had to be ordered taken back. And now we have the strong possibility for the supposedly safe versions to also be taken back. With so many people talking about keeping the new batch of Note 7s (and a large percentage of the first batch still out there), Samsung may have to remotely disable the phone. They already remotely updated the 1st batch in S. Korea where it limited charging to just 60%. If there are tens of 1000s, maybe hundreds of 1000s of unsafe phones out in the wild that some users don't want to return, they may be forced to remotely kill the phones. I didn't say it was a guarantee, but it's looking more likely than not that they may have to do that if there is another recall and people refused to return the phones.

To your last point: I said if there is no recall for the 2nd batch, then the carriers will likely not support them on their networks, would not offer any updates, making them essentially zombie phones. You already said you'd return your Note 7 when there is a 2nd recall. So it sure appears you'd likely keep it otherwise. So that's why I said you're welcome to keep a zombie phone. That means you may keep it, or your may return it.

Re: Other alternatives

That's what I wanted to do as well. The store manager would have honored my request had I been returning the recalled Note not the replacement.

Re: Time to switch

"T-Mobile has stopped sales" I wish it was true, but as I type this they still have them for sale. I just took one all the way though to the purchase phase, just to make sure.

Their website updates overnight and they will be gone by morning.

Re: Other alternatives

Am I missing something? I traded my old one for a new one already and am extremely happy. Why are you folks just now getting your replacements? Or is something wrong with them too?

Re: Other alternatives

You are missing something. The replacements are apparently catching fire now also.

Re: Other alternatives

I want to go to the pixel bit the price for vanilla is way to high.

I'll stick out the note 7 until it burns

None before, because no phone has this scale of safety concern issue before.

Re: my fears if I keep the N7

No fear here. I'm keeping my replacement N7.

Same here. I have no other phone I can use. Until I'm forced to return it(which they can't make me do) I'm keeping the N7. Mine is doing ok outside getting warm on a occasion. It got warm last night after I used the VR for about 30 minutes and then it was fine. So has any figured out if the few fires has been because it was changing or just random exploding?

Re: Time to switch

Considering the fires ect I really wouldn't want to attach this phone to my phone eyes/face with a viewing device VR

Re: Time to switch

I am wondering, what are the chances the replacement N7's get banned on the plane completely over the next couple weeks. I am traveling on Thursday to Asia and my worry is that while I am there, they will issue a ban and I won't even be able to bring my phone back with me :(

Oh how I love my replacement N7, but all this mess is getting to be too much :(

Re: Other alternatives

I have my replacement N7. Just not sure if I should turn this in and get something different. My daughter uses my phone to watch her cartoons sometimes.
