Old Premier Upgrade ?

Lost

I spoke to a rep last night in retentions, as it seems like that is the only place to get a straight answer from anyone. Anyway, as of 12/1/10, I was eligible for a premier upgrade. The rep told me the upgrade will still be there after 4/1/11, they won't take it away just because they're doing the tiered thing with premier. I can see going fwd, which will suck, taking it away, although there should be a way to get grandfathered in. But if you are already eligible for an upgrade, to take it away would only cause problems for Sprint. Seems like everyone is getting a different answer and for all of our sake, I hope this guy was right.

Just a note for you- I questioned several more people on this today.

They all said upgrade will be lost if not used by March 31st.....

1. another retail store rep, then he also asked his in store manager and then they both called in to Sprint and confirmed.

2. I later called Sprint CS, he said it will be lost. Then i asked for a manager, she also said lost and said she knows for a fact you will lose it because she just had to upgrade her friend yesterday because she was going to lose the upgrade.

I also questioned if the upgrade was earned before 2011, they all said it doesn't matter, it will be lost.

So off i go to buy a new phone (Shift, prob) from BestBuy with full intentions of returning it in 30 days for a Nexus, such a waste of time.
(And i'm buying from BestBuy because Sprint charges a $35 restocking fee on "30 day" returns on upgrades.)

Grrrrrr

Had to do the same thing, except my dad and I got Evo?s.

If the Nexus comes out by the 28th then Ill have a tough decision in front of me.

Just got off the phone with another rep and their supervisor...
Turns out, today, I will lose my upgrade come Friday. What the eff is going on at Sprint? I get a different answer each day? Anyway, my wife was nice enough to offer her upgrade, so i'll still be getting the S through Best Buy whenever it comes out. The supervisor seemed pretty nice, tried to get some info out of him and he kept saying, wait until the end of the summer to get a phone, better ones will be coming out then. Sucks that they're doing this, and I feel bad for everyone else getting burned.

I dunno if its really getting burned considering Sprint didn't have to offer yearly upgrades in the first place. Not like any other carrier as of now offers yearly upgrades. Verizon made it so their customers can't anymore so Sprint followed suit. Although the Sprint Premier Gold customers get to keep their yearly upgrades.

And what happens if the phone comes out in May? I don't know about you, but I would rather buyout the rest of my contract than to be stuck with an already outdated phone for another 22 months.

If it comes out in May I'll sell the Shift I buy tomorrow.
I just sold my other Shift on craigslist for $350 the other day. I'll put the $150 towards the retail Nexus. Not the best way, but if i don't upgrade before they steal it back its like throwing that $150 out the door, and i'm not waiting all the way to Sept for my next upgrade.

Also as far as the "getting burned" part, the annual upgrades were probably the top reason i switched to Sprint as well as many other friends of mine, so yea i feel burned. I earned the upgrade in Sept 2010 per the Premier program, its BS to strip it from us with a deadline.
I don't disagree with them changing the program, but pulling already earned rewards isn't fair at all.

So i went with Sprint telesales for the upgrade. While she wouldn't give me a date she did say that BestBuy and Sprint will release on the same day, so it came down to total cost.

Sprint rep waived the $35 restocking fee and there is no activation or upgrade fee and free shipping and tax charged on retail price of $399.

On the other hand BestBuy charges $36 upgrade fee and they also charge tax on $549.99 (their redic retail price)

I saw the $399 pricing on the website, but that says 2 year contract pricing. Then another $200 discount, so $199. So $399 w/2 year contract, means $150 has already been taken off for new customer/upgrade, then the $200 is just a discount/rebate/whatever you want to call it. I would love for $399 off contract. At that price, it would be worth picking up, then if something else came out in the next 22 months, I'd pick that up on contract. WTF, why can't they just release pricing & release date already?! It's not like any of us are weighing the Echo to the Nexus S.

No, full retail on the Shift, no contract is $399.99

I spoke with a Sprint Rep today while doing a 30 day return. He stated that I'd still be eligible for an upgrade after 04/01/11 with a silver premier level. Hope he knows what he's talking about.

...and like that, my premier upgrade is gone. What said I was eligible for an upgrade yesterday, now shows I have 183 days until I'm eligible for the $150 off upgrade.

I logged in this morning and I still have my upgrade. i have the 129.99 plan with 3 phones. I also have an airrave but i don't pay anything for it.

Been going through the same drama as everyone else. Went to a Sprint store yesterday (3/31) to upgrade to an Evo before losing my upgrade credit. Told the sales rep that the phone I really wanted was the Nexus. She confirmed that I would lose my upgrade credit and told me I should give Sprint Customer Service a call and see if they could help with the problem.

Explained my situation to the Sprint CS rep and she got approval from the Account Services department to extend my upgrade discount towards the purchase of a Nexus and that she was putting it in writing in my account for future reference. She told me to pre-order the Nexus from the Sprint store I was currently sitting outside of and I would be good to go when the Nexus finally gets released.

So, I go inside only to find out that this store (a Sprint corporate location) isn't doing pre-orders for the Nexus. And that was the story I got from every store I called in Atlanta, none of them were accepting pre-orders. I hope this doesn't affect the guarantee she gave me that I would get my full upgrade.

Good luck, everyone! Cross your fingers for an April 18 release date!

18th

So glad if it comes out on the 18th and all of yesterdays Sprint BS will be worth it, return the SHift and get the Nexus :)

April 18th sounds very likely, its after the 16th deadline for the $125 port in credit, and the Echo comes out on the 17th so that day is gone, so the 18th it is! ;)

Actually, I believe the Nexus will be $399 as well, no contract, based on the Nexus site information.

I'm pissed about the truth but fact is,is that I was thinking about buying off contract for 499. If 399 holds true I'm sold. I've always wanted a nexus.

For people who don't like to buy phones at Best Buy lets just hope Sprint keeps its INSTANT DISCOUNT going when the Nexus comes out. I hate mail in rebates. It says the instant discount is only for a limited time : /

I just called sprint. I asked them if there was anything they could do about losing my upgrade. She said no problom I will send out an email to reset your upgrade and now I'm all set.
