On Android 4.2.2 and rooted - How to upgrade/Should I upgrade?

I have a T-Mobile S4 (SGH-M919) and am still on Android 4.2.2 because I rooted not long after I got it. I'm not using any custom ROMs (just rooted to get more options with apps). So, first question - Should I upgrade to the current version? I'm thinking yes. Which leads to the next question - How to upgrade? Can I jump straight from 4.2.2 to the current version? Or do I need to upgrade incrementally? I've not upgraded from a root - as I understand, I have to unroot it, then upgrade, right? Thanks for the input!

Upgrading while rooted may lose root.
If you fooled around with any of the files in the /system dir, upgrading could be catastrophic.

If the upgrade contains security patches, you may find that your original root method no longer works and you may not be able to regain root.

Personally, i'd stay put where i am.
