On Note 4, I cannot set an alarm to just go off once, it has to be a repeating alarm?

AC Question

For example, I cannot set an alarm to go off today at 9:00 PM. It has to be set up for every day at 9:00 PM or some recurring schedule. Is that right?

No. If you don't check the "repeat" checkbox, the alarm becomes inactive once it goes off. It'll still be sitting there, unless you delete it, and you can change the time and/or date (or notification sound, or anything else) and save it and it becomes active again - but for one shot unless the repeat checkbox is checked.

This is the orginal poster...I am not sure how to set a date on an alarm. The only place where I can set a date is under the "Repeat" option. Because of that it is impossible for me to create a one-off alarm, such as one for tomorrow morning. I have to create an alarm that is repeatable, and then once it goes off, I turn off the repeat or delete the alarm. Am I just not seeing the date?

Hello. Welcome to Android Central.

I am not sure if my Note 3 Clock is vastly different to the 4. I think Rukbat also has a Note 3.

You may not be able to upload a screenshot yet.

Do you get something like this?

Hi, on my Note 3 I had that, I didn't have problem setting up a one time alarm for any day that I watned. Now I don't have that, I wonder if they took it away or am I missing something? Now, what I do is set up alarm on repeat and then delete the alarm after it goes off the first time. It's really stupid.

Ask in the first thread. You should get more responses, or better still start a new thread in the Note 4 forum. I don't know if you have Lollipop or they expect Lollipop to cure it,or what. Sorry I can't be of more help, but you should get better answers there.

I'm going to hold on to my Note 3 for dear life until the nasty Lollipop people make it all better. :)

If you want to set an alarm for tomorrow morning and it is later in the day than you want the alarm tomorrow just set it for the time you want it. For example if it currently is anytime after 6 AM and I want to get up at 6 AM tomorrow, I just set an alarm for 6 AM.

That's not available on this Note 4 clock, see link screenshots and previous posts, but thanks.

Works on my Note 4 clock.
Of course I never bothered reading about if it could do it. From day 1 have just used that means of setting one time only alarms. I also have regularly scheduled alarms.

Yeh. It's weird. That other thread showed a couple with two Note 4's, same clock, but one missing days of the week.

You can use days in different ways, both of which begin with specifying a recurring alarm. For every week on Monday, check the box by Monday. For only next Wednesday, check the box for Wednesday and then after the alarm goes off on Wednesday disable that alarm.

I use Gentle Alarm. I made a "Reminder" profile and it will nag you (with TTS!) continuously as long as you like! It even tells me to go to sleep.

You can definitely set one-time only alarms.

It's awesome for wake-up, with a special algorithm to get you up calmly, IF you choose it. Everything is customizable, and you can use your own music and playlists. (I also use their Sleep Now! app.) So, I don't worry about alarms.

Mine looks like the picture. Adjust the time with the arrows then click the day you want and unclick the days you don't want that are lit up. Do not check repeat weekly if you want one day. Click save and it will tell you how long it's set for. When it goes off in the morning slide right to snooze or left to turn it off.

The problem the original poster had was that there was no 'days of the week' column, unlike his spouse's similar Note 4.
There was another thread from others with the same problem, which I linked above, with screenshots in there.
Maybe an update or a solution was found.
