So. I am personally not an android or an iphone guy. I have had both. I recently was using an iphone 6s plus. Saw the new note and wanted to try it out. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll keep it and heres why:

Pros for the note:
The screen resolution is nice
I really like the s pen
The camera is pretty good
I like the size of the phone
Some of the features such as waterproofing are really reassuring I'm a pretty active out doorsy guy

Cons:
The keyboard is horrible the autocorrect sucks (I know i can download another one but i shouldnt have to)
Touch wiz definitely seems like its not as fluid
Bloat ware
The battery life is absolutely horrendous compared to the iPhone even after changing settings
Fast charging is not as fast as I expected
I'm hearing a lot about the samsung phones slowing down over time (never had this issue with an iphone ever)
The integration of things like video calling are not as seamless as im Used to on iOS
No silent switch (very handy)

Now im not at all bashing the phone or android. There are plenty of things i like about it. I'm just not sure if I want to fully commit to switching. Im fully prepared to ride out my 2 week trial period and i know its early in the game. I wanted to hear your thoughts on taking the plunge and fully committing to the switch.

Use Swiftkey, it's better than any Android or iOS keyboard IMO.

Touch wiz definitely seems like its not as fluid
Perhaps, use it for a while and see. What is this based on, do you have the Note 7? It's been good for me again.

Bloat ware
(this doesn't affect the phone at all for me)

The battery life is absolutely horrendous compared to the iPhone even after changing settings
(Doubtful. Maybe the iPhone last longer, your verbiage here suggest a bit of bias. Again, what is this based on, do you have the new Note? My battery life has been very good for me so far, YMMV)

Fast charging is not as fast as I expected
Hmm. You list this as a con, yet QC fast charging is faster than any other type of charging on any mobile device(except for QC 3.0 I suppose), and much faster than charging an iPhone

I'm hearing a lot about the samsung phones slowing down over time (never had this issue with an iphone ever)
It can happen, particularly with older ones. Not so much with the newer ones over the last year or 2. My Note 5 is a year old and runs great.
.
The integration of things like video calling are not as seamless as im Used to on iOS
This is true. Do you Facetime a lot? I almost never video call anyone, and when I do, it takes all of 10 seconds to start a Duo video call.

No silent switch (very handy)
Also true. I wish Android phones had them

I don't think we can tell you if you will like it based on your note above. You probably should try it out and see how you feel. Give it a try and see what you like about it over the period of a few days, not based on what you read somewhere.

I don't agree with some of your "cons" and I noted such above.Though you may not have been trying to bash it, you did us some over-the -top descriptions "sucks" "absolutely horrendous", etc. While at the same time, your "pros" were quite muted (Camera is "pretty good", "screen resolution is "nice", when these are widely considered the best on a mobile phone, etc)

You say that fast charging is not as fast as you expected.
How fast is it compared to the fast charging on the iPhone?

I'm sorry, I am 100% understanding of people who simply don't like a device. But I don't understand why you're put out to download a different keyboard. No, you shouldn't HAVE to. And guess what? You don't have to. No one will force you. But if you decide your preferences are different than what the Samsung keyboard offers, at least you have the option.

Bloatware is so unbelievably easy to get rid of. It takes seconds.

Touchwiz is actually pretty good these days, but if not you have dozens of other launchers. Again, you don't HAVE to download these, but there is so many options that would meet your needs if you wanted it.

Battery life is a legit issue. Again, though, the Note is running a he** of a lot more software features than an iPhone, so it makes sense to me why the battery drains faster.

How fast did you expect fast charging to be?

You heard some negative things from people about the device, so you don't want to try it yourself? If I believed everything on the internet about phones, I wouldn't own a single one. Sometimes you gotta try things out yourself to form an opinion.

9 times out of 10 when I see these threads, it's apparent to me that people simply are not prepared to switch. You have to understand going in, that it will be different. You can cherry pick pros and cons from any and all manufacturers and operating systems. It doesn't mean one is better than the other, and if ultimately you just prefer iOS, that's totally understandable. But man, you gotta know going in that some things will be different and not be surprised by that.

Former 6s plus user here

Still in my trial stage of the note 7, even with using an iPad wall plug, the note 7 charging still blew my 6s plus out of the water for charge speed. Make sure it says it's fast charged when you plug it in.

The cameras have no comparison, especially in low light. I thought my iPhone camera was decent, then took them out to take some night pics and it made my iPhone camera look like I was taking pics with an old iphone 4.

While i agree the iPhone is very snappy and fluid, the note 7 so far has been a very smooth and quick phone. The keyboard yes, not a fan of, but the whole point of going over to the latest and greatest android is because you can customize it toy our taste. If you don't like doing that then why did you switch in the first place?

You can go into keyboard settings and turn off auto correct but leave on suggestions.

It may be because the phone is so New, but it seems like it takes just as long to charge it as it did my iPhone. I'll have to do a time trial or something. The guy at Verizon said it should only take about an hour toncharge with fast charging. It's taking a little over two.

That is a fair assessment. I figured it was better to elaborate on why i didn't necessarily enjoy something rather than go into detail on features I thought were nice that anyone who has the phone would most likely agree with. The battery life though was definitely a big disappointment for me. I do believe my iPhone was charging around an hour and a half but the battery would last me all day and I have been having to charge this phone in the middle of the day. I do have the new note. I appreciate the keyboard suggestion. I say the autocorrect sucks because it's nowhere even close to as intuitive for fixing misspellings, also it is hit or miss when it actually changes words automatically. Overall I really do enjoy the phone . Its a close call as to whether or not I keep it or turn it in and keep the iphone .

I see, I didn't realize you had the new phone. Most things on Android can be fixed or improved, but if you like the iPhone better and it just feels better for you, then that is probably the way to go. Many many folks like iPhones obviously, they are damn good phones.

I tried switching because it looked like a cool phone and it most definitely is. like I said before was not meant to be a bash session just merely my thoughts coming from a different platform . I didnt get the phone to customize it but for the potential it has to improve the fluidity of every day use. I have not yet tried the camera in a low light setting yet. I am excited to see how it performs .

One other change that I feel is an unsung hero is the torch now has 5 levels of brightness and is WAY brighter then the iPhone flash light. iPhones is equal to about a level 2

I use the light all the time so this was a welcomed bonus

I am a iPhone 6 Plus user and I have to charge my iPhone at least twice a day (overnight and another time), I don't trust the iPhone battery at it, 60% battery left means I know that if I'm going out later I'll need to charge it.

I get up at 5am at 100% by the time I've left work at 2pm the battery is on like 20-30%, or less or even dead.. Scary how 20% of battery can vanish in minutes, now I have no idea how good the battery saving modes are in the note 7 (30th can't come soon enough, in the Uk) but while in work I'd love the idea of throwing max power saving mode on (except for breaks) and if it's as good as everyone says it is, I should have pretty much all my battery left when I leave work.

I am so excited and can't wait to get my note haha

If I weren't interested in customizing I would buy an iPhone.

I think that is the whole point of Android. iPhone is for people who don't want to be bothered.

I dont use autocorrect so I cant comment there.

Touchwiz is meh. Id try Nova Launcher, much better.

Bloatware can be disabled and until ios 10 you couldnt disable any of apples garbage. How many times have you used the "tips" app.

Battery life. This one Im gonna call BS. I currently have an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, S7 Active, Note 7 and sold my S7 edge recently. Ive also had every iphone since the 4 and not one of them comes close to the S7 line. My active gets 8 hours screen on time, my edge was at 7 hours and the note should be right there. I have yet had to charge my phone while at work for 11 hours and my iphone(s) as well as my employees 6s's need to be charged at least once a day. Im going to bet your non stop playing with your phone whereas the iphones newness has long worn off.

Fast charging will take just over an hour for this phone.

Not sure what you mean about the phones slowing down over time. Will you fill them with apps and run an ungodly amount of ram demanding processes? Probably but thats not the phones fault.

facetime and imessage are the only things I miss about ios. iMessage is hands down the best messaging app available. The only reason I miss facetime is the people I used it with didnt leave ios.

The silent switch was nice, cant argue that but in return we get notification led's and complete customization.

I'm using the note 7 right now and I can only attest that for me the battery will not last longer than my iPhone's did. I've been using it for about three hours for navigation, music amd chatting on here and its already at 60 percent.

I'm no expert, but if you are not interested in customizing and you are already familiar with iOS then the iPhone will probably be your best bet. As a long time iOS user, Android does take some time to get used to. It's really cool all the things you are able to do, you just have to be willing to take some time to learn the ins and outs. FaceTime is the thing I miss most.
