One M9 owners: What are your HTC One M9 first impressions?

Ordered my M9, it's coming in monday. I wanted to know if anybody has tested out the full phone encryption with the M9? If so, is there significant lag that comes along with it?

I know once you enable it you can only disable it by performing a full factory reset, so wanted to know ahead of time what I would be getting into.

Thanks!

I'm unsure of full phone encryption, but I have yet to see this phone lag at all.

From my fingers to you on the M8, M9 or the Chromebook! :D

I've yet run into a point where this phone lags.....at all. These "assumptions" are false. Even on power saver mode, when I put it on after my battery hits 30 percent, I hit no lag. So.............

From my fingers to you on the M8, M9 or the Chromebook! :D

So Pocket Now is a liar. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean its true. First the camera will be fixed. You said that million times. Software didn't fix the camera. Next, there is lag. Now you are saying there isn't any lag. The buttons are on the right side of the phone (Yeah, your right hand side. Actually on the left hand side of the device.). Give up already.

I am calling PocketNow a liar. Lag has yet to be seen.

Pocket now said if you don't reboot the phone over a few days, both phones (S6/M9) will lag.

I haven't rebooted mine since Monday and I still haven't experienced any lag. I don't know how many days they exactly mean..

John Karr pointed out lag. I don't think he is in bed with Pocketnow. Anyway, whatever phone Pocketnow received has some lag and they pointed it out. Some HTC phones didn't get that purple hue problem with the camera and some did. Just like some people battery life sucked with the M8 and some did not. Well there are reports of lag. If the phone was overheating I am willing to bet there is lag on the M9.

Why are you so against this device? You appear to get some kind of thrill from posting negativity about it. I've been reading posts about this device all week and thats all you've basically done. Are you trying to talk people out of getting it? Or is it that because it didnt fit your needs, you dont think its good enough for anyone else either? I'm not trying to pick an argument, but i've yet to read anything useful that you've posted about it. Its like you're on a mission to bash this device or something. At least thats how its coming across to me.

m9 won't lag. i own a note 4 which is fast but does things my m7 and m8 never did. incl. some hipcups and slight lag.

Because people on this forum like to misinform people about a device. If you think I'm bashing the phone why has two people already returned their M9. Others would too if they hadn't flamed so much on this forum. These are the top debates of which all the M9 fanboys were wrong. I'm not an engineer, but I fly jets and I study cellular communications.

1. Software will fix the camera - Wrong
2. The camera issue is a software problem -
Wrong
3. Battery life is better than M8/S6 - Wrong
4. Speakers are better than M8 - Wrong
5. You can fix the camera problems with the settings - Wrong
6. The phone feels more solid than the M8 - They are made with the same materials..huh
7. The lip of the phone/gold edge is nice - As pocket now stated...yeah for a watch. A phone isn't a piece of jewelry.
8. Someone changed the settings on his camera and his photos still were bad. I'm not a photographer but you aren't convincing anyone to not buy a different device with those photos.
9. Look at the videos/photos between the S6/M9. HTC got crushed. The love and dedication that Samsung put into the S6 is the same type of love and dedication HTC should have put into their M9. They threw crap at a wall and it's not even sticking. These are things Android lovers have gotten into ifans about. This is very abnormal for HTC.

Now look at the M8S. That is what HTC should have done to the M9, but use the 801 chip. If you are going to make a M9 look like an M8, just call it an M8S.

Okay so you have made your opinion of the HTC M9 clear.

So unless there is anything else important to add we will consider further posts as trolling or disruptive posting, take your pick.

Mine arrived from Best Buy on Thursday. I have the Sprint version and am coming from the M7. Here's my quick assessment...

Battery life - A little bit of a disappointment. A marked improvement over the M7, especially when you consider I had been using the power save mode, out of necessity for the past year. I'm hoping there will be improvement with a software update. At the end of the day I can survive without any problem with the battery life as it stands. Just would like a little more.

Screen - no complaints at all. It is nearly the same as the M7. A little cooler hue, as had been mentioned. Maybe it is the new device, but the glass honestly feels smoother to the touch. I don't remember other new devices feeling smoother compared to the device they replaced.

Sound / Speakers - Seems to be a little quieter, but the sound seems a bit richer sounding.

Camera - Honestly I have snapped only a few pictures. Only to check to see if it worked. Also used it to do a check deposit, which actually worked better than the M7. Frankly I don't care whether or not the camera is great or not. I carry a small point and shoot around with me to places I'd be likely to want to snap pictures. The 'real' camera works much better than any cell phone camera will with current technology. The things that I use the cell phone to snap are things that I don't need great quality photos do.

Performance - Everything runs super smoothly. Haven't experienced any lag. The service gets warm when running certain apps, but honestly my M7 ran even warmer, so no complaints there either.

Call Quality - Excellent. A little different sound than the M7, but not in a good our bad way.

Data Connectivity - Nice to finally experience a tri-band device. At first it would disconnect LTE occasionally, but after doing a PRL update and a profile update, I don't seem to have any issues.

Misc - Not sure I like the power button on the side, but with double tap to wake the screen I don't mind too much. Phone feels solid, like the M7. I got the hold on silver one, looks stunning, but put a case on it right away.

Overall I am pleased with my new phone less than a week in. Definitely an upgrade from the M7. Probably would not have upgraded from the M8, though.

Great break down thank you! Mine just arrived today and I am also upgrading from the M7. I'll test it out when I get home tonight. So still no word on phone speed with full disk encryption enabled?

Had my M9 for a week now. Battery life is not bad, no complaints there. No lag to speak of, phone does get hot though occasionally. Personally, what i hate about it is that even though I have it on "silent", it keeps vibrating when there's an event. I turned the vibration off but it still does it. Went to the "interruptions" menu and turned everything off, well that also turned off the alarm! Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I've also noticed the "do not disturb" setting has dissapeared :( - Adam

Yeah my husband used the DND all the time. I think now it's under settings and sounds and notifications and is called something interruptions. Not sure if it's exactaly the same or not. I didn't use it.

Just press any of the volume buttons and specify priority mode. It's much better.

So it does the same as DND. I think my husband found that in the settings but I don't think he knew you hit the volume button for a shortcut. Thanks! He's using it now I think. He was just used to where it was before. I didn't use it so I can't say.
