Android Central Question

We have been texting for weeks with no problem then 2 days ago, all the texts he sends only go to my ipad. when I text him from my phone he gets them. He has an iphone.

Welcome to Android Central! I think there's a way for iPhone users to select if they're sending a message to another user's iMessage (i.e., only accessible on an iOS device) or to their SMS (which would be the messaging app on your S10). Check with your friend to make sure they're sending you SMS messages, not iMessage chat messages.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum.

iMessage can be set up to use your email addresses and your phone number. If you have ever used your phone number with an iPhone then it will be registered with iMessage and the system will detect the number as an iMessage number. This means that any messages he sends to you will automatically be sent to any devices you own with iMessage, such as an iPad.

One thing to do is to go to settings on your iPad. Then click messages on the bar at the left hand side. Then look at what numbers and emails are registered with your iMessages. It will list any emails and phone numbers.

If your phone number is listed under that setting then you will need to deactivate it from iMessage. You need to go to this link to deactivate the number.

Please register using the link B Diddy left so we can find out what happens.

Pull down on the notification at top to see if the 'Call & text on other devices' is enabled.

That only works with Samsung devices, and it would work on both.

It's an Apple problem, not a Samsung one.

I've not used this option before myself. So you are saying the "other devices" has to be Samsung devices for the link from my S10 with them to work?

Indeed, and then only with a select few.

Here's a link: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...call-and-message-continuity%2F&token=_xYLXMqs

EDIT: It amuses me that the forum uses a URL lengthener. Although I'm sure they'll inject all manner of horrible things, may be better to Google.

Thanks. I never wanted to have that capability in the past so didn't know about that option until the 'Call & text on other devices' button "magically" showed up on my T-Mobile S10 recently.

It only happens with certain sites. To prevent it from looking that way, I edit the "https://" out of the link, then highlight it and click the Unlink button in the edit ribbon (on the desktop forum site).
