In the beginning, there were major developments in smart phone techonlogy, like there were in the PC market. As things progressed, the innovations slowed to a crawl. We now have dual and quad core processors in many new phones, just about every widget and app that can be dreamed up, so what is the customer going to view as the next "must have" that is going to convince him or her to drop $600- 700 on the latest and greatest . I think people are starting to realize, that the $200 phone that the carrier tells them, is really costing them hundreds and hundreds of dollars more when you factor in the contract they have to buy. That's every 2 years, so we are talking a large amount of money. Buy an N4 for $350, and you are good to go for years, with a non-contract provider at a low cost. I think phones like the nexus 4, that don't have all the loaded bloatware, and get immediate updates of the OS, will be the wave of the future. It is rumored that Apple maybe trying to add a fingerprint reader to the new iPhone, but that is probably a big gamble for them. I can hear the shrieks of anquish now, when the new iPhone owner tries to get into his new iPhone, and it tells him is finger print is unreadable. The other issue, is , will the iPhone thief also try and lop of your finger when he takes your phone
