One thing that I would change about apple

So then you agree it should cost about the same to build them all? I don't care where they are built or where the parts are made. I was replying to the poster who was saying it cost more to build an iPhone, which is obviously a false statement.

Yes I agree to that.

It costs more compared to the majority of android devices, which aren't the high end handsets we all know and love.

A quick search (I used google) showed various estimates (parts only) for the iphone 5 (roughtly $200) and galaxy 4 (a bit higher). Parts costs, however, are only a portion of the total cost.

Of course, these are simply guestimates with unknown accuracy or relevance.

I don't want to take any part in this anymore, I'm done. The captain CLEARLY knows Android is better :rolls eyes:

What I can't figure out is why you spend you time on an Android Nexus 4 forum, trying to tell everyone that Android isn't as good as the tiny little screen iPhone?

Can't argue with that. They are slapping Android on just about any device these days, some of which don't deserve it. But as far as the high end, I find them to be quiet comparable. The main difference I see is the business models, although I see them drawing closer to each other as we move forward. I don't care for the Apple business model myself, but do consider the iPhone high end, just not my flavor.

This argument again? :rolls eyes: I prefer Android. Let me repeat that again. I PREFER ANDROID AND MY NEXUS 4. However that doesn't mean I have to bash iOS as I know its strengths.

Once again I see the same members involved in silly bickering. Keep it up and not only will the thread be closed, but more individualized action be taken.

I remind everyone here to read the forum rules. Keep the discussion civil and on-topic. I'm not going to ask again.

What is the purpose of this thread? These hater threads need to be shut down they serve no purpose there's no reason to bash other OSes. And this certainly has nothing to do with the nexus 4

Would I rather be the tech company that made the most money in the world or the company that made less money but had a higher market share.

Wait hold that thought......

Wait for it.....

Did you know that Apple has enough cash on hand that if they lived just off 1 percent interest from a standard savings account they still would be a billion dollar company without selling a single product.

And what does that prove? You ever hear the saying " a fool and his money are soon parted"? Anyways, Google doesn't make phones, so you would have to tally the proceeds off of Android devices from several different manufacturers in order to get a comparison. Google only provides the software and their agenda is pushing their services.

The point is that even though Android because they have so much marketshare, it really doesn't hurt Apple.

Actually it has hurt Apple some. Even though they remain a strong company, they do make more than iPhones and iPads, revenue has been declining, which is the main reason the stock took a big hit, around a 40% decline. It has made a decent bounce now on speculation that the next iOS will give it some swag back, but that remains to be seen.

Revenue is on the decline for all smartphone companies, we are starting to reach a point of saturation.

Samsung started with large expectations of their Galaxy S4 and had to cut them short.

I can see these latest batch of phones like the HTC One, Galaxy S4 etc lasting people more than the 2 years allotted with contract upgrades.

If I wasn't such a tech nut, I could see my Galaxy S4 lasting me more than a year.

Yes, that is true about the saturation, but if you look at the figures you will see that Apple has been hit the hardest. It will be counting on the next iOS and the lower end devices it will be offering to turn this.

In the beginning, there were major developments in smart phone techonlogy, like there were in the PC market. As things progressed, the innovations slowed to a crawl. We now have dual and quad core processors in many new phones, just about every widget and app that can be dreamed up, so what is the customer going to view as the next "must have" that is going to convince him or her to drop $600- 700 on the latest and greatest . I think people are starting to realize, that the $200 phone that the carrier tells them, is really costing them hundreds and hundreds of dollars more when you factor in the contract they have to buy. That's every 2 years, so we are talking a large amount of money. Buy an N4 for $350, and you are good to go for years, with a non-contract provider at a low cost. I think phones like the nexus 4, that don't have all the loaded bloatware, and get immediate updates of the OS, will be the wave of the future. It is rumored that Apple maybe trying to add a fingerprint reader to the new iPhone, but that is probably a big gamble for them. I can hear the shrieks of anquish now, when the new iPhone owner tries to get into his new iPhone, and it tells him is finger print is unreadable. The other issue, is , will the iPhone thief also try and lop of your finger when he takes your phone ;) ?

Google makes phones through Motorola now. They also contract out manufacturing of nexus devices.

I dont think the Nexus line is the future because Verizon and Att dont want them to be.

Also I would love to leave Att and go to TMobile but their coverage stinks in too many areas to switch. I am hoping with the build up Sprint and TMOBILE is doing that in 2 years we will have better options without having to compromise.

No different than apple, who doesn't make phones either using your logic.

Also, last time I checked, Google owns Motorola. So, Google does in fact make phones.

Every Android phone has a manufacturer name to it because it was manufactured by such and such. Google and Motorola are still run separately. Google is just want is called the parent company. Look I have no interest in arguing like children here. I'm just stating fact. You jumped in and I'm not even sure what you are arguing for. Have a good day.
