There are some similarities with the Nexus program and the relationship between Apple and Foxconn. But when it comes to the relationship with the manufacturers with other devices like the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy series, LG Options, etc, etc, etc......there is no comparison, except maybe some similarity with the Google Edition devices. The biggest glaring difference being with iPhone, Apple takes the bulk of the profits. Where as with Android, the manufacturers reap the big profits. With the Galaxy series, Samsung is making huge profits while Google only reaps a very small piece. But even with Nexus, Google isn't interested in making big profit on the sale of the phones. That is why they are priced so low. Almost all of Google's revenue comes from advertising. For Google, Android is just a tool for gaining market share and increasing the opportunity for making additional revenue thru advertising using that market share.
