Just received it... thought I'd mention it as a reminder in case someone wasn't aware 😉

I'm 90% sure the Tab S6 lite is the tablet I got my Mum... really didn't expect it to get One UI6, but nice to know!

Weird. I attempted to download it and nothing. How are you downloading it? I'll try again later.

I went into the settings and just checked for a software update the normal way. You have to remember though that I have the Tab S6 Lite 2022 version... if yours isn't a 2022 or newer you won't get the update unfortunately.

When I purchased my Tab S6 Lite 2022 version, it arrived with Android 13 out of the box. I thought it would be a good replacement for the Amazon Fire Tablet since I was using the Amazon tablet to shop online and there was a lot of lag when trying to browse online stores. My early experience with the new tablet was pretty good but over time I noticed that it would not keep the correct time after a few updates and even with 4 GB of Ram there was sluggishness from all the items running on it that are not tablet applications but in fact cell phone applications. This really surprised me since I am using the WiFi version and not the LTE version but I guess there is no importance in making a build specifically for the WiFi version as opposed to a joint effort for both WiFi and LTE.

Now I use my Tablet even less because there has not been a security patch released for it since November of 2024. This defeats the purpose of using the Tablet in the first place. With the amount of constant security items that Google continues to address because of the risk to end users it is shocking to see that we are on bi-annual updates at this point. I see news about zero-day vulnerabilities on a regular basis so it is really sad to see this approach to security. All of the latest news from Samsung that I see is mainly about the AI features that are available on their new flagship offerings which reinforce my thoughts that there is little concern for what we already bought versus what they are trying to sell now. I found myself laughing when I saw the press release emphasizing the availability of UI 7 and Gemini but there is no mention of all the other products that still do not have UI 7 and will never use the AI features including in UI 7 because the hardware does not support it. Most of us just want what was promised. We don't want excuses and endless delays while you Market your latest flagship and leave us still waiting for even a timely and up to date; inclusive, security patch. I say inclusive because there has been a trend of releasing an update and some of the most severe issues that have been discovered, have not even been addressed.

I understand the importance of keeping up with the times and I understand the significance of AI but my years of experience, supporting technology, has taught me to thoroughly test as well as placing my emphasis on making sure that the image created covers the devices effectively, before rolling out a solution. We didn't put all our emphasis of every bell and whistle or every bleeding edge technology. I hope something changes with this current Samsung technology in the near future or I will cut my losses and start using a different brand. I will not waste another dime on anything else from them going forward.
