One UI: Custom Ring Tones

Just curious if ONE UI bring back custom text alert for individual contacts. I didn't like when Samsung decided to take this feature away with Oreo. Looking to hear from those that got to do the Beta.

Would be great if you can response. Thx

Well you initially said ringtones but yes for both but I believe it's on oreo also as we speak if I remember correctly.

Hmm, why I'm not able to customize individual tones for my contacts.

Have you look in contacts , edit one of them scroll all the way down should say default ringtones and should able click on that to change it.

Let me know if it's there.

Yes, I do see ringtones. But, I'm looking for message alert tones not ringtones. I may not be using the correct wording here. So please forgive me.

Sweet, found it. However, how do I put my custom tones there? I think its somewhere in RINGTONES folder. Let me explore. Thanks buddy.

The problem is, the text message tones are ONLY assigned to the conversation thread and not the individual. This only works if you:
A)-Never delete your message thread and
B)-Never get a GROUP text message. You can assign a distinct text message tone to the THREAD, but not to the individuals in that thread.

Before, you went to Contacts>Edit>More>and assigned a specific, distinct tone to contacts. Now, you do it from the message thread ONLY.

PLEASE bring back the Contact related message tones.

Hence.... my problem. Over half of my messages are group/team related. With groups that change often. And I do like to clean my messages out occasionally.

BUT, before.... it USE to be according to the contact. So... why did it change? And is it going to change back??

That's what I'm looking for. I just wanted to hear from those that already doing the One UI BETA. If this feature is available.

The problem is that those of us asking for this feature don't want it in other apps, especially outdated ones. This is an unacceptable solution. We want it back in the contacts section where it was before the samsung Oreo change. Otherwise it doesn't function in the proper way. We just want to know if the Pie beta and release has changed this behavior back or if it continues to give us less features than we had when the phones launched.
