OnePlus 5 Fantastic battery life

They could of done way more to optimize battery. Im getting just as good if not better battery on my u11 which has only a 3000mah and a QHD screen. This is just an example of the u11 battery from this mornings usage. Almost 2 hours SOT and only used 17% while on LTE and streaming ESPN since I got to work. On pace for 8 Hours SOT. *EDIT This is also with auto brightness not like the poster above who set his OP5 at 15-25% for maximum battery. If I did that I would get 10 hours easy.

Congrats on your battery life on your HTC phone -- Maybe head over the HTC area to talk about it? I see this post is about the OnePlus 5 life and for users to share / talk about their life on that phone. Posting "look at my HTC battery life" in a thread to talk specifically about how the OnePlus performs so users can either just show their data or troubleshoot isn't helpful.

Thanks :).

My post was merely a response to the OP5 having great battery with a post showing it should have even better battery if optimized better. Considering it has 1080p and 300 more mah battery it shouldn't even be close. Just my opinion.

I don't see much wrong with the OP5 battery, honestly.

Considering that it has a 300mAh advantage and an OLED panel, that's not bad.

Could it be better? Absolutely, though users don't seem to be complaining.

Not saying its bad by any means, just saying it should not be going toe to toe with the u11 which has a smaller battery and QHD screen. If the OP5 were as optimized as the u11 it would be easily pulling in ridiculous SOT numbers

9 hours is pretty crazy, no?

That 2014 signal strength indicator, though.

And can you remove that ugly alarm notification icon?

That Dash charging is insane and makes up for the good but not great battery life.

wow.. that's some good battery.. I'm glad to see more manufacturers putting an emphasis on battery optimization

Been using a op5 that I purchased for a u11 vs op5 video , and have been using them side by side. I posted a screenshot Friday how with 83 percent left on my u11 on LTE I had almost 2 hours SOT. Now at the same 83 with the op5 but on wifi I only have 1:04 min SOT. This is terrible.

Everyone's mileage varies, but mine tells a different story...

Auto brightness? I discredit those who don't use it because anyone can set the phone to 15% and get those times. Most people will use auto brightness as it was intended.

Yup.

You mean you discount them, not discredit.

Either way, your usage seems more believable as it's only off by an hour give or take. Some of these people with 9 hours, or 5 hours with 50% left are not believable

The best I've done was 9 and a half hours with 8% left (as demonstrated in a screenshot I posted). I generally charge before hitting that point, but I wanted to push it. In fact, my current usage is right on line for 5 hours at 50%... I'm using just under 10% per screen hour...

The ones I find odd are when people post shots with 3 days battery life with 20% remaining and like, 1.5 hours SOT... What are they using their phone for? lol

I don't know how. I'm literally at home on wifi just turning it on and off casually checking Twitter and browsing these boards and I'm barely on pace for 5-5:30 hours. I don't have any rogue apps and I even have location off.

Decided to test this myself since video is a big part of my phone usage when I take long airplane trips. I transferred over to my phone a 2008 movie about a certain man who dresses as a bat. It a 10.9GB mkv file for a 1080p movie. Charged the phone to 100% then started playing the movie and unplugged. To be completely fair, I manually set brightness to 100% and volume to 80% (on earphones). The movie is 2:32:13 long. I used BSPlayer Pro since that is the app I use for all my videos.

Here are my battery screens as soon as it ended.

As you can see, a 2.5 hour movie at max brightness used only 15% of my battery life. I checked afterwords and I had 29 apps running simultaneously in the background (and this excludes the battery and pictures app which i opened afterwards).

Can't run this test on an HTC 11 since I don't have one, but I am incredibly happy with the results I got.
