OnePlus 5T!

Collected mine this afternoon from O2 here in the UK and it's all set up and running as it should be ;)

Thanks Note 8, you've been wonderful, but not for me!

If only it was water resistant. I still may get one though. I love the monochrome colour toggle for reading that's easier on the eyes.

I've no need and never have needed a water resistant phone...

Don't understand why it's needed TBH

My big deal is that it's basically meaningless... IP68 looks nice on paper, but if it can't be guaranteed that every device's seals are functional and water damage isn't covered by the warranty, what's it actually worth? Nothing.

Why? Why is ip68 worth nothing? Okay so it's not guaranteed. That doesn't mean it won't protect. My daughter's LG G6 fell in a puddle when she was getting in the car. Totally submerged and nothing happened to it. To me that's value.

It's worth nothing because it's not guaranteed, you just answered your own question. Having IP68 written on the box means it may or may not actually be resistant to some degree.

Anecdotal evidence is great... An ex of mine years ago dropped her phone into a bath full of water, and the phone was fine. This was before water resistance in phones was remotely *supposedly" a thing, she just got lucky.

If it's not guaranteed or upheld under the warranty it's not value at all, it's a false sense of security.

I love my phone so much that I keep it in my hand when I go to the restroom! And I don't take it when I cry alone in the shower! And I also cry when I wash my spoon over the sink, cuz my O5T isn't in my hand! And I don't use it when it's pouring wet outside.
So there goes IP68 and all the rest! I love my phone is all!

No reason the 5 shouldn't be supported as long as the 5T, they're basically the same device.

It's also worth bearing in mind that along with the smaller bezels, 2:1 displays have a smaller area compared to their diagonal measurement than 16:9 displays; so a 6 inch 2:1 display actually has the same area as roughly a 5.7 inch 16:9 display, so it won't be as big as you might think. It's only a couple of millimeters bigger than the 5, which is good, because it's already too tall in my opinion.

Thank you for that explanation!

Yeah, that's my only hesitation with it. But I'm so protective over my phones anyway that I feel like it's something I may be able to overlook.
