Just received my OnePlus ordered from US OnePlus.com today. First impressions are great and I’m currently using it on Verizon. Just swapped my sim like do on all my non carriers unlocked phones and everything good so far. I don’t use any carrier specific features like WiFi calling and others so haven’t looked at them. But will check later to see if they are available.

Overall the device feels great in hand especially comparing to OnePlus 7 pro which i felt was very big for my personal taste. And the flat screen oh do i miss them , I’m in the camp that doesn’t prefer curved screens. The device as expected is very snappy and OnePlus software is great. Haven’t tested out camera still but i have other phones with better cameras for that purpose so not my main use case. I’ll take it for a spin later this weekend to see what it can do. And I’m digging the muted silver color, was tired of the blue so going back to basic simple color

Mine is supposed to be delivered Thursday!

Did you have to do get a sim from Verizon? Or can I just activate the phone through Verizon?

I want to be able to use it as soon as I get it.

If you already have an activated Verizon SIM, you just insert it and you are good to go. Generally Verizon reps or any carrier reps are clueless with phones they don't sell. So if you call them they are going to say phone won't work or some crap like that.

I just inserted my nano SIM from my current phone and everything worked out of the box and didn't have to talk to any Verizon reps to make it work (thankfully).

Have you had any issue with texts? I followed same procedure and I can get texts out, but no in at the moment.

I believe you need to call Verizon and tell them to provision the device as CDMA less device. I remember having similar issue with OP7 pro and others having the same and provisioning it had CDMA less device by the support fixed it.

The adaptive brightness on OnePlus devices is so bad compared to other phones I use. Really irritating since I keep my brightness to auto and OnePlus generally tends to go on the lower brightness side and very finicky in adjusting brightness to varying lighting conditions.

Yeah.. the Adaptive brightness is very aggressive and tends to the lower side. I had to switch it off.

I also see that using Microsoft launcher really shows down the home action. The screen goes blank for a while. I want number notifications which isn't supported in one plus launcher

My first one plus device arriving today. Coming from an LG G7 whose battery is shot.

Was looking at the pixel4 but that thing is underwhelming.

7t looks like it has a lot going for it for a good price. Can't wait to try the 90hz screen and see what the fuss is all about! Also glad to hear a vz sim will just work. 👍

That is correct. I'm on Verizon and an activated sim will work but you do have to call Verizon and tell them to override CDMA on order for you to receive texts.
