OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised" or "

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

Have a OnePlus6 and a Sammy Note 9 (got a killer deal off of Craig's List) that I swap between on a regular basis. Love my OP6 for everything it does with an almost pure Android experience without bloatware, and I get regular updates (already running Android Pie 9.0.2) Note 9 screen is what all others are measured by in the Android world IMO, and it clearly has the advantage there over the OP6... The question is are you willing to pay $400 more for a better screen?

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

There'll come a time when I want to run an iPhone and I'll have one. Mainly though, it's so I can sync health data from my Apple watch which I'm continuing to wear despite not currently carrying an iPhone.

Ah. The only thing from Apple I use is my X. So I’m not invested at all. But I still worry about not having the latest and greatest - since I’m a junky.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

You have both an XR and a 6T?
I'm coming from an iPhone XS Max which was listed and sold on Swappa yesterday. My iPhone XR will arrive tomorrow. What the 6T has shown me is that I will not be paying anywhere close to $1000 for a phone again.

I find the 6T to be fine from what little bit of a photographer that I am. I've never in life used wireless charging though I have an old Samsung qi charger from an S8 that I had earlier this year. And, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the screen.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

Coming from a note 8 and I think the 6T is right up there in some ways with it. Now I'm one of those note users that exactly uses the S pen daily, and I have had times when I needed to screen grab some text, or write down a quick note, and couldn't do it quick as I could on my note.

The big one is battery life. This 6T has been amazing on battery life. I can go almost two days on one charge. On my note 8, I was charging it twice a day. Never used wireless charging like that so that's not a big deal for me. Would have been great for a IP68 water resistance too but whatever. Great device so far.

My XR will be here tomorrow and I'm shipping out my XS Max tomorrow to the buyer.

Cool. How come you prefer the R to the Max?

OnePlus phones have definitely felt like a compromise when it comes to the display and camera. Never thought it was a big deal since OnePlus doesn't charge normal flagship prices.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

Download Gcam for the OP6 and the camera gap narrows considerably.

What's left (for me) after that is the speakers. It isn't all that great compared to other smart phones.

Personally I came from an HTC U12+ to OP6T. I still have both, but TBH I fall back to the U12 every time. Overall the HTC offers a better camera and multimedia experience.

You use the phone speakers often? Asking as i can't think of when i wanted to use speakers on my phone to listen to anything more than a short YouTube vid. Otherwise I usually have my headphones, cast to my TV or listen with Bluetooth speakers.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

When I read about how 6T screen isn't as sharp as the S9+, I just have to wonder what people are using the phone. The 6T is plenty clear and sharp for me. Having "more" sharp just doesn't seem like something I'd really find that useful for my purposes.
I'm with you here. Coming from a 2k display on the G6, i would much rather have the battery savings the 1080 display offers rather than the extra sharpness the 2k or 4k displays may give.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

@Bob61 yes, I need good speakers as I am the polar opposite. I am pretty much a YouTube addict haha.

Which goes to show....different strokes and all that.

Same here. I never actually noticed the difference in screen quality between my G6 and the OP6T, until I realized that I set the G6 to 1080P Native Resolution for battery's sake. Don't think it helped me that much, though.

The OP6T's display is perfect for me. Honestly, if 1080P is fine for my 55 inch TV, it's fine on a 6 inch phone screen.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

note 9 is driving me nuts with bugs. Freezing camera, Android Auto breaking, etc..
I spent 1300 on the 512gb version though and owe like 1100 to get rid of it from ATT. Really pissed.

Re: OnePlus owners who have also owned top end flagships, do you ever feel you have a "compromised"

As the title says!

I have the s9+ that I got for $500 and OP6 that I paid $465 for. I'm leaning heavily toward keeping the S9 since the prices are so close. I notice the little things like vibration feedback, sound quality, Samsung Pass, Samsung Pay, Camera Quality and overall finish. I absolutely admit the OnePlus is faster, but I feel like Samsung is definitely more refined. I haven't paid full price for a device since the Nexus 5. I refuse to pay anywhere close to $1000 for a phone. These prices are getting rediculous. I only paid $650 for the 256gb iPhone X that I just sold.

I agree that at a certain point, as a day 1 Android fan, it's time to stop supporting this excessive prices. It's getting crazy. I've found that while I like a flagship, I'm getting tired of the price creep.

I'm rooting for OnePlus though, and any other company that can push the agenda forward. I hope that competition in the marketplace levels things out.

I came to a 6T from a Note 9 and I absolutely do not miss my Note at all. The OnePlus feels amazing and is blazing fast.

I totally, 100% agree. I will never pay anywhere near $1000 for a phone. The most I've ever paid was $600, and I didn't even like that!

I'd only consider if they gave significant value for my trade in phone, but that's only happened for me once with the $300 trade in promo for the T-Mo OP6T. When I upgraded from the Moto XPE to the LG G6, they didn't offer any trade-in value at all.

TMo did even better, they offered G6 with BOGO, that was great deal. Got two G6 for $500, TMo then gave me $300 off 6T with their trade in promo so they basically paid me to use my G6 for 2 years. . And now getting the 6T with $280 out of pocket, that's been two solid deals by TMo.

That's awesome! You really did make out like a bandit.

I got my G6 from T-mobile also, but couldn't take advantage of the BOGO because they told me I had to add a line at the time. An upgrade wouldn't qualify. And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the price was $650 when I bought it, which is worse than the $600 I thought it was.

If OnePlus keeps launching on T-Mo and keeps offering fantastic trade-in deals like this one, I'll probably upgrade everytime.

I also got 2 G6's on AT&T BOGO offer. Unfortunately TMobile just isn't equal to AT&T coverage wise in central Louisiana for me to jump to them. They actually say i have fair lte service, but when the nearest store is an hour and a half away, and they don't put a store in the town of 50k that I live in then i question how serious they are in my area. Hopefully in the next few years they'll have more presence here. Would love to get those deals and save money on a plan with them.

Looks like popular G6 upgrade 😊
