I root my G2 and install different roms. For a while, when I did a reset, my online Android/Google backup showed for my latest phone. But now, it doesn't seem my recent phone is being backed up, but it still shows about 10 different older backups. Maybe there is a limit, but I can't figure out how to delete the old phone backups. Yes, I have shut off "Back up my data under Settings" and when you do that, it says it will delete the backups, but it doesn't. I'm using a Lollipop rom, but I haven't heard about any issues with the online backup with LP.

Yes, I know about Titanium and I also do a nandroid in recovery. I just would like to delete my old backups and have my current apps, etc available to load when I do a reset.

A nandroid is always faster than a download, but you can upload the "last known good" nandroid to Drive. (And, of course, make a new nandroid any time you're going to make any major change.)

Make sure that your latest ROM has the same Google account that you normally use - using a different account (if you have more than one) makes it a different device as far as Google backups are concerned.

If turning off backups doesn't delete the ones you have, open a trouble ticket with Google. The "delete" function is to disable backing up.
