Oops, Flagship killed... again!!! (yet another speed test - opening multiple apps one after the other)

So happy to see people calling out these BS speed tests which means absolutely jack when it comes to everyday use.

Or, you know, just use the phone yourself and judge it for yourself based on experience?

I'm not a fan of speed tests because they tend to be vague and don't accurately reflect real-world experience.

WOW...I'm sending mine back now and getting a OP3 it has the better GB's and speeeeeed!

Oh snap! The iPhone is faster than the OP3...screw that I'm sending my OP3 back after I get it and buying an Iphone, because it has the better GB's and speeeeeeed!

Re: Oops, Flagship killed... again!!!

I agree with the person who said that I've never thought to myself, man, I'd be happy with this phone if that app just opened one second faster.

I hear that all the time. Lag. People complain about lag all the time in the newest, faster phones.

I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps this particular unit may not be working up to par or something.

Because I saw another "speedtest" (it's actually an app loading and RAM management comparison) and in this one, the Note only reloaded Evernote and perhaps another app. Apparently, that one also runs on an Exynos 8890.

I'm not sure if the Vietnamese video is an outlier or C4E's unit has a defect.

I don't find these speed tests as useless. They've shown that:
- Samsung's RAM management on the Note 7 -- at launch -- is garbage. If an update helps, then great, but it should've been something available to begin with.
- Today's top games may have been built for iOS and ported to Android, hence the meh launch times and meh relative frame rates.

Are there videos comparing the S820 model of the Note 7? I personally wish they were less game heavy, too.

Here's the weird part.

In the Vietnamese video I linked above, the Note7 didn't have much issue keeping those apps in memory. So it's a wonder why C4E's unit reloaded nearly every app. Both seem to be Exynos 8890-powered versions.

Those are only 2 data points, though, but they are contradicting each other.

About the only ram management that is at the discretion of the OE is allocation for resources. Example is Lenovo and their Pro 3 with 2GB ram. They allocated a disproportionate amount to the projector module. The device is great for media and emulators, but sux as a tablet.

I think the assertions about ram are off target and based on some level of false pretenses by not appreciating the actual lack of control OEs have with Android ram control.

Re: Oops, Flagship killed... again!!!

Don't forget drop tests. Those are just as moronic.

Those are slightly infuriating. They're wasting devices that could actually be used be people who want and / or need them. I'd feel better if they donated one device for every one that they stupidly destroy.

Isn't there a version with 6gb of RAM?

Apparently, yes, but that's for China. And it apparently isn't out yet.

The device used in both speed tests seem to be Exynos variants with 4GB of memory.

Hopefully that's just Grace UX flexing it's muscles. I'm keeping my S7e and want it. Snapdragon version though.
