OnePlus have just started the Open Beta 12/4 OTA roll out for the OnePlus 6/6T to test a whole host of new features and fixes that may or may not, come to future firmware updates. You will only receive this test firmware OTA if you are already on their Open Beta releases.

Changelog

System
  • Added OnePlus Laboratory (???)
  • Gaming mode enhancement
  • Optimizations for screenshot
  • Supported quick reply in landscape mode, so that it's easier to reply to new messages when watching videos
Clock
  • Now supports world clock with weather information
Camera version 3.0.16

WARNING! Open Beta releases are for competent and experienced users since they may not always be stable and are for the purposes of testing and reporting to OnePlus to help them develop future stock firmware and features. By installing this Open Beta, you accept the potential risks. Once on the Open Beta pathway you will no longer receive the regular OnePlus, Official Stable OTA's and you will need to completely wipe your phone before attempting to return to Official Stable OnePlus stock firmware.

If you have the McLaren OnePlus 6T you, "may", lose the McLaren Warp Charge animation/facility by flashing this Beta firmware.

(N.B. Open Beta is not available for the non stock, T-Mobile carrier minority variant)

This the 4th Open Beta release in 42 days

Beta4 OTA has been pulled, we are waiting on it to resume. I don't have any information on why it was pulled. I had already installed it and haven't noticed any bugs, but there must have been reports of something.

There seems to be an issue with downloading apps from the Play Store using mobile data. I just checked and it does seem so although I can do so over Wi-Fi. A reboot temporarily fixes the Play Store on mobile data issue I've found.

[UPDATE]

There is more to the temporary withdrawal of not only the OnePlus 6 & 6T Beta updates, 12 & 4, but also the 5 & 5T as it appears the incremental, (small downloads), could be causing boot loop issues.

Because I am rooted I received the full beta update, (about 1.68GB), and I was not affected.

A new roll out of the Betas will begin again as soon as the relevant fixes are applied... so, please be patient.

That makes sense, I'm rooted so I downloaded the full file and I'm having zero problems

Could you please do me a favour old son... could you try turning Wi-Fi off and without rebooting, then attempt to download an app from the Play Store. I can for a short time if I reboot.

I just did 3 app updates. And downloaded an app. No problems so far.

I'm not rooted, and installed the incremental update. I might have just been lucky, but I've not had any issues at all

It seems that it was the OnePlus 5/5T owners that bore the brunt of the issues with some bricking their phones and needing a service centre. This article gives more info...

Still no news on a fixed Beta update, so far. Although, like you guys, I have been running Open Beta 4 since last Monday, with no issues.
