Open notifications from lock screen

Sorry if this has been asked before, but a while back I was able to open a notification directly from my lock screen without having to swipe to unlock. I don't have any security enabled on my phone and I know I could do it previously, but now I'm not sure if Ive changed something or if I'm going crazy because I can't do that anymore.

To the best of my knowledge that was a nuisance that was introduced with the Note 5 IIRC: even without a lockscreen, you still need to swipe to open the phone.
