Opinion on headphones?

I wish I hadn't done the pre-order. Now folks are getting the dual charger. That's pretty slick.
The pre-order deals from B&H and from Amazon included the Duo charger and the Dex station, in addition to the AKG wireless headphones from Samsung.

I won't complain since they were free. I have better earbuds but these are decent. As others have said the wired connection sounds better which is true for most headphones. Wireless isn't the worst thing once you tune the settings.

The headphones are good for being free no complaints here. Better than getting nothing for pre ordering.

Am I alone in thinking these N60 Wireless sets kinda suck? The deep bass is almost non existent. What is there is kinda boomy. Mids have a tiny sound to them and overall, they have little presence to the audio. The noise canceling works pretty good. Though I notice if I disable the NC, the audio gets even worse. Bass becomes totally nonexistent.

Now, they aren't terrible. But the Y50 set i got with my S8 sound much better. They were free so that's good. But if I paid nearly 200 for these I'd be returning them immediately.

Note that I do all my audio listening via wired 3.5mm Jack. The BT isn't bad but it sounds better wired.

Yeah they kinda suck. There's a reason why they're way cheaper on Amazon now than release. They are giving them away for free yo.

I guess I was just used to the bar set with s8 preorders. The Y50s I got actually sound very nice. My wife is already selling hers unopened (shes not a headphone person). I know value dropped but I should still get some money for um. Probably sell mine as used for a little bit of money too

I disagree completely. I really like them. I have had beats and bose and I don't think that those r any better.

I was looking on eBay to see if any of these headphones are up for bids. I seen at least 4 maybe 5 that are going for at least $84. I can't see any being sold for over a $100. But I'm sure in the coming weeks those prices will surely drop. That's why I didn't really want those. I have no need for wireless headphones and then they have no resale value. I'd rather have a Samsung.com gift card and buy what I want.

I recently watched a YouTube review by Flossy Carter and he mentions that these are not very good too.

I'm in the UK so didn't have the option to choose them.

Think I'll stick to my Bose® SoundLink™ AE2 Wireless Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones.

You're getting them for free, $84 is not enough resale value? Lol smh

Well, I finally received mine today and am currently listening to them as I type this.

I'm surprised at how good they sound overall. And whoever said these were lacking bass must be listening to 12-inch subs for headphones. If anything, I think they’re a bit too bassy, thus overshadowing the mids somewhat. Anyway, I listen to a variety of music from country to pop, EDM to jazz and must say these do a decent job of them all, especially if you like EDM, or bass heavy music. I also think the bass sounds a tad cleaner and deeper than my Bose QC15 Quiet Comfort Nosie cancelling headphones.

I’m also surprised how well these play in BT mode. I’ve been skeptical of wireless headphone and thus have always avoided them. Listening to these however, have changed my mind somewhat, thus when I decide to go to looking for a pair of in-ear phones, I’ll consider wireless. Ironically the other reason for wireless has to do with the headphone jack of the Note 9 being on the bottom (as with the S7 Edge).

Overall I like the warmer sound of these over the Bose QC25's which can sound harsh at times. With that I can definitely see me leaving the QC25’s behind in favor of these.

Comfort wise, though (at least for me) it'll take some time getting use to wearing on-ear phones since I’m use to over-the-ears, such as the QC25’s. Right now are starting to hurt so I'm giving them a rest. Perhaps once they break in they’ll be ok, but….

Lastly, I’m listening to these through Samsung’s "Samsung Music" app. You can find it in either the "Galaxy Apps Store" or Play Store, just search "Samsung Music".

Give it a try with the N60’s and see if things improve, especially if you enable Dolby Atmos in the app. Or try "Tube Amp Pro" (also in the app). Note though Dolby Atmos must be disabled in order for Tube Amp Pro to run. I actually like "Tube Amp" better though your mids can take a hit in some songs.

My two cents.

My comparison point are 2 headphones. AKG Y50BT (What came with S8 pre-orders), and Audio Technica ATH M50's. I even used a sound frequency generator to test them with low end sounds. Anything under 40hz or so was very difficult for me to hear. I was surprised at this because they are rated to go below 20. The Y50s stayed audible and clear until around 25 or 26hz. The M50's went even lower, but since those are studio monitors I would expect nothing less. I have not done any EQ or sound adjustments on the phone. Personally, I always listen to my music with a Flat EQ, and all sound processing turned off. Tube Amp and Dolby Atmos on the Note 9, to me, sound terrible with headphones. Though I do use the Atmos with the phone speakers as it gives the onboard speakers some much needed added soundstage. I never liked EQ on these phones because it seems to be poorly implemented. IE - It seems to boost bass by simply making other frequencies quieter. Any EQ adjustments make the overall music drop in volume. Now, I dont listen at high volumes so that in itself isnt an issue but I never liked the quality of the audio when using EQ. To be fair, this isnt a Note 9 issue. Any phone ive used regardless of brand never had EQ adjustments that sounded good to me.

I'll keep them. Perhaps they have a break-in period. I do like the fact that they are very light and a good choice to use while going to walks around the block (noise cancelling also works good there). But for my periods of serious listening, I'll stick to my studio monitors.

Actual measured sound analysis aside, sound quality is almost as subjective as battery life.

I have both the Audio Technica ATH M50's and the M50X's and would say the AKG N60's can't compete with them, but as noted by rushmore….. and most anyone doing reviews.... sound quality is subjective.

That said, like you, I actually like them; and they have my replaced my Bose QC25 as my travel headphones. Mostly due to the N60's being wireless, where the QC25's are not, but also the sound quality being different but overall equal.

That's me.

I use them to eliminate noise when working with noisy tools in my garage workshop. Works fine for me. I just don't pipe any music into them. ;-)

I like the headphones because they're free. Compared to my Sennheiser HD 800's,
you definitely notice the difference in value, quickly.

But for free, not bad.

since it was free can't complain. however i think the Y50bt that came with the S8+ sounds better. the N60s sound dull/almost muffled to me compared to the Y50's. but again, for free can't really grumble:)

In addition to the AKG, I've also got a pair of Beats Solo 3 Wireless. I'm trying to figure out which I like better. The noise canceling is great, but the Beats have a deeper bass, which I prefer. No complaints all around, but I'm not an audiophile so I'm not sure what I should be listening for.

My AKG headphones just arrived today. I have them charging. I will try them out later. I was going to give them to my son for Christmas but now I'm thinking I might keep them for traveling. Sometimes it can get noisy on a plane and I might want to just listen to music and zone out LOL.
