Opinions about 2014 moto x

I have a Moto X pure edition. I purchased it in December 2014. It immediately updated to lollipop. For the first few months it was a great phone, but lately it has become very buggy, I don't know if it's a lollipop issue or what. Moto voice turns itself off several times a week, there's a screen redraw bug, and it just seems like it's not as smooth or bug free as the Moto X 2013. Moto voice was more accurate on the 2013 Moto X. I could count the times on one hand my 2013 Moto crashed or hesitated. I love the hardware but the software is very buggy on the 2014 Moto X. Also, attentive display never worked, trusted places use to work and now works periodically. Trusted devices has stopped working. I've tried very hard to like this phone, I loved the 2013 version but this is ridiculous, Motorola should have done better than this.

Most of those problems seem to be lollipop related so its essentially down to Google's OS, not Motorola's phone, although admittedly Motorola are taking their time releasing the 5.1 update which could solve some of those issues

I mean like I said, the only real issue I have with the phone is the lack of volte support but once we get 5.1 that worry for myself will go out the window. What do I have to complain about, the phone is fast, smooth, fluid everyday stuff native Android is really no reason to complain about it at all.

I love my Moto x 2nd gen. I had some issues with the wood backings but I changed it early on for a plastic backing. While it's not as nice looking I have still been super happy with it!

The software set is what I enjoy the most. Near stock android has been a great experience thus far. Updates have been quick and moto voice is nice on the rare few times I have used it.

Would I upgrade to another device yet? No. Nothing has come out that's gotten my interest just yet. I may pickup the 2015 edition if its worth the upgrade. Of course like my current one it will be carrier free and unlocked! I hope the price tag stays in the $550 or less as well. The device has been nothing but reliable. 2 thumbs up come from me! :-)

My Pure Edition has been really good since I got it in December. Subpar camera, yes, but take many shots and some will be good. As to battery, just a handful of times have I ever really needed to recharge before bedtime, though my usage may be less than many peoples'. Generally happy with Lollipop, and the Moto extras especially. Minor lags that I hope 5.1 will fix as it has on my Nexus 7. Overall I'm pleased with it and hoping to get 2 years out of it. We shall see.

Re: Opinions about 2014 moto x..You know

I loved my 1st gen for its size and feel and love my 2nd gen for its RAM, storage and processor but honestly id be happy with the size of the 1st gen with the same RAM, storage and processor of the 2nd gen. Regardless it's still better than any branded android phone ive had.

You know, I must agree with everyone here. Well the camera is subpar, I use camera application with the Google photos application, and everything is super super fast. Android cuz I need everyone else has said. Battery is pretty decent for normal to moderate usage and I'm always near a charger so I can't complain too much. While of course there are other Android phones on the market, I can't think of any other phone I would rather have .. this is the mini Nexus phone to me.

I think battery life has been less than good for me.. By noon (street unplugging at 6am), I'm at 45 or 50% battery after light to moderate use. And the Lollipop memory leaks (or whatever is causing lag that requires a reboot daily) are no fun either.. Other than that, the only complaint I have is that it has no "reputation" when I show it to coworkers and friends.. If it isn't an iPhone or a S5 or S6 it doesn't register as a decent phone with them.

I liked the first gen better. It was more reliable in almost every area. My second gen has been buggy since day one. Have had the same issues as you. The one thing that irritates me the most is the unwanted migration of icons from adjacent screens to my home screen. I don't know how many times I have looked at my homescreen to find icons that have migrated from other screens, messing up my calendar widget and forcing me to reassemble everything where I had put it originally. That and the unpredictable and overly sensitive display screen orientation that has me chasing the display, turning the phone this way and that trying to actually catch up to the display, has pretty much soured me to the Moto X. Just offer an android phone that works and a decent camera with image stabilization and I'll be all over it.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I must tell you that I've never had any one of those issues with my mother west. Unless they keep on repeating the only thing that I want on my moto X with these 5.1 update, is the voice over LTE updates for voice and data simultaneously just like every other second gen moto X order. I mean the better memory RAM management and battery management is part of it too but that's the one core functionality that I miss so much...

I really don't have any of the bugs mentioned here. Yes the camera isn't great, but you can live with it.
One great thing about this phone is it grabs a signal like no other phone that I've had. We used to need AT&T's microcell here at the house, but with a Moto X , we no longer need it. Spots where we used to show no service, we can now hold a call and send a text.
If the next Gen Moto can grab a signal this good, and improve on the camera, it will be one helluva phone.

Like I said , for my 2nd gen Moto X with lollipop 5.0. On a, I cleaned it out wiped it down and I'm going to be so you know anybody that's all for 300 to 400 dollars, and get a nexus 6 from someone.
