Opinions about this camera screen protector?

I think Samsung may be trying to cover up the cracked glass with this plate. Out of sight....

The camera bump is truly hideous and very much a weak point in the phone structure. For such an expensive phone this is pretty shoddy QC.

thats not a bad idea, and its not a skin, its firmer. is this Samsungs fix for the "mysterious cam glass cracking" but like someone said, this will also cause dirt build up within the circle cutouts. so pros and cons for everything

It depends on what you are referring to as a QC issue. The camera bump protruding is not a QC issue. That a design issue and it's not the first time that an OEM has made a protruding lens. Granted, this is a large one, but if people are dropping it and breaking it there isn't much to be said except don't drop it or protect it.

If we are referring to a design flaw in which the glass is breaking spontaneously on it's own that would certainly be a QC issue.

I'm still not convinced that all of these are breaking on their own. It is quite possible that if someone doesn't remember dropping it that something pressed up against the glass and cracked it.

I've learned not to sweat the little things. We have bigger things to worry about than our smart devices.

I was referring to the cracking. The design is still hideous though.

Actually I remember seeing a vid about the periscope system and how it actually has adjustable sliding lenses within the system and when I read about the noise issue, my thought is that it may not be the OIS but that sliding mechanism inside that periscope system.

I found the video and you can see that sliding periscope system if you forward to the 2 minute mark.

It makes more sense the louder slapping noise especially when shaking it side to side.

I wonder if constantly shaking it like that or if you run with your phone or mount it on a motorcycle if you end up rattling that periscope system broken eh??

How often to you shake your phone to see if it rattles? I've only ever noticed when it was first brought up. This happens even on dedicated cameras. I don't walk around shaking my phone and never notice it.

This happens every time a issue is pointed out. Everyone hyper focus's on something they otherwise wouldn't even notice. It is one of the annoying things that these discussions bring in a forum setting.

I think most of the current ones are. Current iPhone, Pixel and others, but I guess we could say Ultra is the mother of them all.
Honestly, I cannot see a single phone nowadays which I can call a good looking one. Zero. I really miss the old experimental phone designs. Maybe with maturation of flexible displays, but...

Phones are pretty boring looking. Flexible displays don't do anything for me.

So...not even the UniHertz Titan?

or F(x) Tec Pro 1?

or Cosmo Communicator?
