Optimize device maxes out at 90

I have had the Note 8 for a week today and this evening before bed I went to optimize device and now it only goes to 90%. It says I now have to run a security scanner by mcafee to get to 100%.

Is anyone else having this issue out of nowhere now as well?

I guess its not a real issue, but I dont want to run any virus protection and slow the phone down.

So apparently, Samsung and Mcafee made an agreement to install the AV software on all unlocked Samsung phones after the S8.

So it only seems to effect the unlocked models. I guess I just have to ignore it, but it's frustrating to buy an unlocked device to avoid bloatware, and then have a program like this trying to get you to install it every time you optimize the device.

I don't want to root a brand new unlocked device. Guess I just have to deal with it.

That sucks. That is some bloatware that I definitely don't want. Glad I didn't buy the unlocked phone.

Hi all,

So in testing a Note 8 when I would run device maintenance it would clean up and post 100/100. Now with no changes it stops at exactly 90/100.

Where does yours stop?

It always cleans mine up to 100%. The lowest I've seen it show after its analysis, but before pressing the "fix it now" button has been 89% so far.

91 maxes out and gives info to enable McAfee

I think it depends on your model and carrier. I have a TMO Note8 and optimization goes to 100 without enabling McAfee.

Mines goes to 100%, lowest before omtimizing has been 96% McAfee is enabled

I'm getting VERY close to buying the Essential Phone, its got it's issues with round 1 but it certainly has no bloatware of ANY kind whatsoever.

I just ran into this on my unlocked S8+. I'm searching Google for ways to possibly get rid of Mcafee. Antivirus is not needed.

The one in the setting menu that the phone came with. It's under device maintenance.

Under Device Maintenance in settings, I see Battery, Storage, Memory and Performance, but I don't see any test or fix it now. My phone is set for Optimised. I don't have McAfee on my phone and I have Verizon, if that makes a difference.

On my Verizon phone I only see this. I don't see Optimised Now.

Verizon does not have the optimize now option
