Optimum K9 Mail settings?

All,
I've been searching for the best mail server, because we all know that the stock android server just isn't it. I've tried out stock android, Maildroid, GMail (with forwarding), K9, and a couple others. My personal preference so for is K9 because I like an all-in-one option, yet good separation of accounts.

So here's my question:
For someone who uses a mix of IMAP and POP accounts, what are the optimum settings for polling, pushing, message sizes, folder sizes, etc.
My goal is to receive mail as quickly as possible w/o draining my battery with constant syncing.

If there's an informative link out there, shoot it my way.
Thanks all.

I use K-9 for two IMAP email accounts (used to be POP but I changed them). I have them checking messages every 5 minutes and I think they're set to the second lowest message size setting. I don't use it for Gmail or Yahoo Mail because they have their own apps and I only use those for non-personal stuff. I haven't noticed a big battery drain with this setup and it's working fine.

Give your ideal setup a shot and if battery life seems to suffer, make adjustments to message checking frequency and message and folder sizes.
