Optimum Over clock speed??

I'm using the power control widget to the middle setting which is probably about 40%.
Phone has been out of the phone for 16.5 hours now and the battery is still showing 60%

That's some amazing numbers. I have my screen so dark it's nearly unreadable and I still can barely go til evening on a heavy day.

could you post a screen shot of your profiles please

Would be glad to post screen shot if you could tell me how. My SetCPU profiles are all set to 600/250 with the failsafe set to kick in at 40*C. SetCPU has "set on boot" checked and CPU governor is set to "on demand".
Yesterday was a relatively light usage day. We'll see what happens today. My guess is that based on my usage (or lack of usage) I would have probably been around 70% for a similar day when not overclocked. I'm getting these numberw with the WiFi and GPS both turned off (I only enable them when I want to use them).

Thanks for the info.

Re: screen shots, sons home replacement apps have the option built in ( camera button, half way pressed). I use an app called shootme. It captures screen shots when you shake the phone.

Use Drocap2

And I have set mine to 800Mhz/250Mhz
Profiles on, under 25% battery = 600Mhz
Over 43? C and it goes to 600Mhz/250Mhz
When sleep/standby = 250Mhz/250Mhz
Else 800Mhz/250Mhz

My settings are very similar although my base is 800/600

under 30% = 600/250
sleep/standby = 250/250
charging = 600/250 (mainly cause i tend to not be using it as much when it's charging and it get's hot from charging already)
Over 40 degrees C = 600/250

I'm tempted to buy the overclocking app. But I'm new to this hacking stuff on my phone so I'm unsure about it. These different "profiles" you guys speak of, do they automatically switch to them depending on what your doing or must you physically switch to them. For instance going from a more demanding profile to a charging/idle profile automatically once it recognizes what the phones doing?

I wanna buy it but need more info first.

Yes, the SetCPU app for rooted phones sets the profiles automatically.

Appreciate the help. My phones rooted so Im gonna get SetCPU :)

Does overclocking really have much effect on how the phone runs though?

There's a difference. When I first bumped performance up to 800, I could definitely tell the difference. Everything just ran smoother. I can't really notice if I go over 800, so I don't really care that I can bump it higher than that though.

The biggest difference I noticed is from underclocking to 250 mhz, which is sort of obvious I guess. It was almost unbearable how slow it was.

Agreed. I pop it up to 1GHz every now and then, but don't really see any difference. 800MHz runs as cool as stock, doesn't seem to noticeably effect the battery life and makes the phone's whole UI nice and smooth.

Since I've read the Droid's processor is clock-for-clock faster than the Snapdragon in the Nexus One, I suspect that 800MHz takes us pretty close to the N1's speed. 1GHz on the Droid should be faster than the N1 at its stock 1GHz.

What do you guys have the min. Set at?? Right now I'm 800/250. Need to mess around with it to see if I notice any difference
