Ordered!

Did you order a capacitive pen for your Thrive? I especially am curious as to how the pen works and whether I can use the pen to edit/"write" in the bundled free QuickOffice. Don't mind buying the pro Quick Office if it works with the pen. I suppose the pen should work wherever my pointer works though; is that correct? And I assume the QuickOffice accepts touch.

I surely do look forward to your review. :) And I surely do wonder when toshibadirect will ship MY Thrive!

I did order the capacitive pen for the Thrive. It actually showed up over a week ago. I don't know if the bundled QuickOffice will allow the edits you are looking for, but I will check it out. My main reason for getting the pen was to make it easier to web browse and use Craigslist as well as to use some illustration programs.

Ahhahhhh . . . So your illustration work; is that the source of your illwood forum name? :)

I will use the pen to write/edit (if it works well)---for grading papers, but my husband requires a stylus because his fingertips are too big to hit the correct letters when keyboarding on a virtual KB. He has a 7" Galaxy Tab which does well for his use because he is retired and uses it only for accessing internet and email while he's flyfishing for rainbow trout in northern Arkansas. :)

What illustration prog(s) do you use on your Thrive?

Haha, no, illwood has nothing to do with any illustration for me. I just play around with illustration and photo editing. I am not an illustrator, but rather a Mechanical Engineer, so 2D and 3D CAD is much more my forte.

I hope that the grading will works out as I have a friend who is looking to retire his laptop and use a tablet with a stylus for commenting and grading. I would like to give him a good recommendation as well.

Oh, the CAD stuff is amazing; I'm in awe of the software potential---although I surely am not an artist (I'm incompetent!) in that field.

I have done a great deal of photo work for my teaching-related website and I do vids for my students to rhetorically analyze but I think I'll continue to do all of that on my more powerful desktop w/27" monitor.

A tab seems delightfully UNbulky compared to a laptop for "paperwork." I hope your friend receives a great recommendation in this regard for the Thrive. :)

My credit card was billed by toshibadirect a few minutes ago; I wonder if it's still too soon to get excited . . .
