Oreo 8.1 Double Notification Sounds

Hi, I've just upgraded my Nexus 6P from Oreo 8.0 > 8.1 and was hoping that the issue of my double notification sounds would have been resolved. Lots of people appear to be having this problem.

To clarify, most (not all) of the time when I receive a notification for Outlook or Twitter etc, the phone makes the specified notification sound, stops halfway through and then plays again.

When I saw the fixed issues in 8.1 I was hopeful this would stop due to only 1 notification sound a second now being able to be played. However, this issue remains and is unchanged for me.

Am I getting the two issues confused and they are in fact different?

Just an update, even when on 8.1 I'm still getting multiple notification sounds. After flying home I turned off Flight Mode where I got a notification sound for every new email; it was like 7 in a row. Disappointing that such a common and obvious issue that only occurred in Oreo still hasn't been resolved.
