oreo - unable to add item to desktop

before i upgraded to oreo, i was able to long press on any item in file explorer and 'add to desktop'

now, i see the 'add to desktop' option, but nothing is being added to desktop.

anyone has the same issue??

Have you checked the last screen on right? When something is added to desktop it is added to the last open spot in the last screen.

Which file explorer are you referring to? My Files?

yes, i am aware of the last screen. i was using ES file explorer. after updated to the lastest version, it seems to have fixed the problem.
