I've noticed a problem with every single "update" type event I've completed on my G4. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has noticed this issue, or if there's any guess as to whether it's Lollipop or just the G4 (as it relates to our unique ability to rescind Permissions on the G4 we may not know if its bigger than us).
I have mentioned in the past that when I first did an LG Backup restore when I got the G4, it led to a few apps malfunctioning to varying degrees. Some apps' notifications didn't work, and an unistall and reinstall fixed that, annoying as it was to have to do. The bigger issue was the Fenix app for Twitter. It was continually, I ultimately discovered purely through maddening trial and error, keeping my G4 awake much more than it needed to be. This was displayed not in the app's battery line, but in Android OS' battery stats (thus the maddening trial and error).
So, there was that initial problem. Now with both software updates we've had pushed to us, and with the FDR I did and used LG Backup to restore, apps are not in the ideal state afterward. I haven't had a really bad situation like with Fenix, but every time I "update" or "repair" (FDR), there are multiple apps with a particular issue.
The Permissions we can rescind are reset for Location and Keep Awake (most importantly but others too) after every reboot following an "update" or "repair" (FDR). It would be one thing if I had to just check the boxes again, but when I do that for this subset of apps, it reactivates them after every reboot.
Some of the apps repeat this, but it has happened with different apps each time. Just as an example for you, following this most recent Verizon OTA update, the following apps won't maintain the Permissions blocks I set:
Aviary (this one seems to always be on this list...goodbye Aviary)
Netflix
NY Giants official app
Our Groceries
Poweramp
WPS Office
As I said, each time the list is different. Ticketmaster and TiVo apps have been on the list before, but not this time.
G4 or Android? Any guesses as to what's going on, in particular as a way to stop it?
Stuff like this just makes me suspect there's even more under the hood keeping things from firing on all cylinders.
Thanks guys.
