omg, I am trying to do things with my phone, sure it connects, but there is no way of doing much of anything once you try to go outside of copying files. Heimdall simply refuses to start on Snow Leopard, forget connecting with VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, or Parrallels. I am about to install Windows 7 and forget OSX altogether. For what I need to accomplish, OSX gets in the way. I have a copy of Office 2007 Professional and other random applications that don't have OSX counterparts. I had similar experiences with the iPhone which is why I got an Android Phone and couldn't be happier. Anyone else have similar experiences? I want to update to DL09 and OSX simply won't allow it. adb on OSX refuses to see my device. Before I get headed out to the store to purchase Windows 7, should I simply stick with XP? Or is Windows 7 worth the 200 smackeroonies?

i would hold off on dl09 until vzw samsung, or more than likely adrynalyne gets a handle on the computer connectivity problem fixed. not everyone is having the problem, so, do you feel lucky?

XP works for the purposes of this phone; all you really need Windows for is Odin, hopefully rarely. As indicated on Heimdall's website, it doesn't work on OSX without Froyo. The virtual machine problem is not OSX's fault, OSX recognizes the phone. And ADB works fine on my Mac, problem is on your end.

Hey I just got back with Windows 7 Ultimate :) its a purdy box. Now I had renamed a file, can I update to DL09 without re-rooting the phone to simply rename the file? I think I have DI01 from the push. ADB does not see the phone. I have tried several things to get it to see the phone and it doesn't. It may very well just be OSX being suckish. I have had nothing but issues since I bought the mac, first it was not seeing USB kb and mouse, then it broke compatibility with some apps for OSX that I have, then this. I will deal with being careful not to get spyware and viruses if it means the ability to work.

EDIT: I restored the phone to it's stock state, now how do I use the files provided in the link :) If you simply renamed the Bing file, and Microsoft file but open the Bing app it will reload the files lol.

The problem isn't the mac, i am a mac user and haven't had a single issue. if you are really pissed off at OSX then run bootcamp and get XP or W7. I wouldn't be able to lower myself to microsofts operating system but hey, thats me :p

I've bricked my phone and ****ed it up in similar ways a few times testing stuff, even to the point of the yellow exclamation mark on startup, but (Luckily since I'm on PC) re-odin'ing a known stable ROM in download mode always fixes it right up.

Cory might know a similar fix on Mac, I think he is on one from reading in a previous thread, but I might be thinking of someone else...

Oh yea.. and after owning a few macs in the mid to late 90s, I hate them myself and will never own one ever again. If Steve Jobs doesn't want you doing it, it's always 10x harder to do on Apple. :)
