OTA link

I finally got the nerve to do the manual install I could not wait any longer even after reading that it does not live up to the hype. I installed in ten minutes every thing seems to be working fine phone seems a little faster and sharper flash 10.1 is working internet is loading fast, phone , mp3 , speaker phone , camera , video all seems to be working fine I have not found any issues as of yet

It worked for me as well except now my maps and navigation no longer work, they force close as soon as i open them. I have downgraded the maps to 4.3 which does open, but no luck with navigation. any thoughts.

is this a problem with 2.2? if so then it's a good to thing to know for people who use maps and navigation so that they don't update to 2.2 too hastily.

I have been using the update for 3 days without any problems. I used maps and navigation yesterday with no issues.

I have noticed that Advanced Task Killer won't kill Weatherbug anymore. I like the app but I prefer it not to run all the time all though it's not too much of a bother. Even if it says it killed the app it will still be in the notifications screen telling me the weather.

I have ran into a few text messaging issues. Sometimes when responding it will give me a blank screen to respond to. Won't tell me the person's name or show the picture until I send it. But this is rare.

I had the phone go haywire one time.

And the biggest issue, it lags during text sometimes. It won't keep up with how fast I type and even with slow typing there will be some lag. This isn't all the time but this does happen quite often.

Even with these issues it's not enough to bother me a whole lot.

About the signal... Does anyone know what the best signal is vs the worst signal?

Also is it because the Dinc has Rev A that the signal seems to go higher than the first BlackBerry Tour? On the blackberry tour the best signal I could get was a -80dbm I notice it goes higher on my phone now.

I believe the lowest was -110 but I'm not sure. Right now I am showing no bars in a rural area and I'm at -94dbm.

I did the install yesterday, since then my battery dies so much faster. every time i check the task killer, it shows half my apps running, even ones i hadn't used... what can i do?

I've noticed that a lot of the apps when you exit them still run as well. Usually i'll run one of the Storm 8 apps, exit it and come back later and it starts from scratch with the splash screen and loads to the home, now if i don't use taskkiller, it is still running when i go back to it.

Seems to be a 'feature' of 2.2, better multitasking?

From everything I"ve gathered if you use Task Killer you're taking way more battery life. My phone seems to be running smooth now that I uninstalled mine.

It will still be running when you go back to it if you go directly back to it. The phone does what it needs to do on it's on. If you kill it with task killer and it's an app that will come back it will still come back. And it will take more of the phones power to make it come back again after you killed it.

With 2.2 the task killer really seems to be about useless. I gave it a few more tries but I have now uninstalled it for good.

Since I installed Froyo I have noticed that a number of annoying bugs seem to be squashed. Scrolling from screen to screen is much faster and smoother than before, and the optical track "thingie" works a lot better. The signal bars now correspond to the actual signal I am getting with the phone. The phone doesn't reboot itself when traveling from one place to another and going through areas that have weak signals. I haven't done any measurements, but battery life seems to be as good as it was before (I have the extended 2150 battery and I routinely get at least a day and a half or two with moderate use of the phone), and it doesn't take any longer to charge up. The phone seems to do a lot better remembering settings I have for various things. For example, when I turned off the power, charged the battery, and turned the phone back on before installing Froyo, sometimes I would lose the living wallpaper and default email account that had previously been selected. Since Froyo, that doesn't happen anymore. And, of course, there is the Droid voice and eye startup!

Update: My phone got down to 14% power remaining, and I kept track of how long it took to fully charge it up. I always turn my phone off before plugging it in to charge it, and it took ~3 hours to get a green LED.

I had to downgrade from SkyRider 2.5.2, using this YouTube video on androidforums, worked easly, then once phone started with the Eclair Stock 2.1, I got a notification that I have a system update, which is the OTA Froyo 2.2, installed, rebooted and here you go I finally have the Official OTA Froyo 2.2 on my DInc, Man ...!!! I love this toy

I keep getting an error when I try to install it. I have looked at sever people with the same problem but I am not making that error myself so I don't know what else to do

here is the error

assert failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/inc/inc/inc:2.1-update1/ERE27/161494:user/release-keys" file_getprop("/system/build.prop" , ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted

I think that is about it, anyway I do have it on my sd card not in a folder or anything, I did rename it to "update" the .zip is auto added for me so I didn't accidentally re-add another .zip to it. It is september-7-2010 now and I think I should have gotten it over the air by now since I can't seem to manual update it... is there anything else I can try to get it?

I finally did it. I am tired of waiting on Verizon. After installing the 4.1 on my iPod Touch this morning, (which came out only yesterday for everybody), I thought it was rediculous Verizon deciding who and when I get 2.2! I did get the error #7 and had to install the earlier update first. Other than that everything is Incredibler! (Thanks Doug)

Is anyone else having issues with the Live wallpaper? My phone seems like it's dragging after about 2-3 weeks with froyo.

How to manually update your Droid Incredible to Froyo

I downloaded the file to my phones sd card, renamed it to "update.zip", and moved it to the root directory. When I try to run recovery and apply the update, it immediately says: "E:can't open /cache/recovery/command". then it tries to install from sdcard...finding update, opening update, verifying update, Installing update...
assert failed....blah, blah, blah....
Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong?

Check out OFFICIAL: update.zip is finally here! :D - xda-developers
there is some important version info that could limit if you can use this file or not.

Have fun and stop stalking the darn internet now.

Which version of Adnroid are you using, 2.1 or 2.2?

Are you rooted or Stock?

That link is for the Froyo 2.2 OTA and will only work if you are OEM 2.1 (Eclair)
