OTG cable for Samsung S6

I recently bought a USB OTG cable from a mobile phone store in the local mall. At first I thought it was faulty, my phone refused to detect any device plugged into it, and its doubtful it detected the cable at all.

I tried it on my mates Nexus, and it worked perfectly, it also works flawlessly on another friends LG.

Is the microUSB port on the S6 wired up differently from the standards to stop OTG cables being used or something?

It might be. I know that the mhl cables won't work with the s6. My guess is they made it so you were forced into cloud storage..

Just got my otg cable yesterday. ...the s6 will read the thumb drive but WONT charge the phone at the same time, and i specifically bought one that allowes this, pretty mad

I have a few older cables that will charge my S6 but I can't use them to connect my S6 to my PC for instance.

Samsung must be requiring a different design/new cable to work correctly

I use my old OTG cable which I used with my previous HTC One X, and it works like a charm. USB pendrives, WD passport.. everything works fine and the data transfer rates are better than my HTC.

I bought 2 from ebay for like $1 each and they work perfect. Try rebooting the S6?

I also just grabbed a $5.00 OTG from ebay and it works like a champ on my S6. Also used it to Smart Switch my aunts iphone to her note 5 and it worked perfect.
