Galaxy Tab A 9.7: Has any one used an OTG adapter (Micro USB on one end and standard female USB on the other) to read a flash drive? Samsung tech service says the tablet is not compatible with OTG but two different OTG checkers says that it is. Also several on-line retailers sell the OTG cable. I would like to be able to read my flash drives on the tablet.

Update (3/31/16): ordered an OTG cable. I will update this when it arrives.

Update (4/1/16): Receive OTG cable today. The tablet reads my flash drives perfectly. Opened an Excel, a Word file and a PDF from the flash drive with no issues.

I have used the OTG cable with a flash drive on my Tab A. I have not had any issues.

Another solution is a USB OTG flash drive. It has a micro USB on one end, and a USB A on the other. No need to mess with the cable.

Thank you for the reply. I did see the flash drive at Wal-Mart. I was not sure that it would work.

Please not that if you use a portfolio cover with your Tab A this drive can be difficult to plug all the way in to the mini usb port because of the protruding edge of the cover. You will have to push down on the cover edge to allow clearance.
