Otterbox case pics are up!!!

Does anyone actually have either Commuter or Defender who can give an even brief review of look and feel, added bulk, etc? Especially awesome would be one that compares it to Seido Active Limited Edition....

I just received the otterbox commuter for the Evo. I have been using the Seido which was first available on Amazon.

Now, this is just my opinion but if you have the Seido...save your money. Although it seems like it may protect a bit better especially around the rear lens, I don't like the feel of the plastic AT ALL. It seems a bit slippery and the tactile sensation is not as nice as the Seido. The "Hi-impact polycarbonate" which is what you hold feels just like matte finish plastic.

I would prefer if it had a rubbery grip feeling while still imparting the protection.

This will not be the last case I purchase for this phone.:(

I was wondering because, while I like the Otterbox cases/brand in general, I'm actually kind of liking the Seidio Active Limited Edition I have on it now. I have the pearl white and black and, though a couple of my friends told me it looks like a "cow" the other day, I respectfully disagree. It has a great feel to it, camera and front are protected from surfaces, seems as though it would be protected from major damage if I drop it, it is easy to get on and off (for changing out batteries which I do at least once a day), and it looks cool (definitely no pretending you don't have a case on :-).

Do the buttons collect pocket lint? I had a Commuter for my BlackBerry and it was the best case by far, but it collected pocket lint just as good as it protected it. Also it got stuck in my pocket. As I said, best protection out there with customer service that can't be beat!

yes it definitely does collect pocket lint. But I usually just wipe it down or just take a piece of tape when i'm at the office and just roll it over the rubber parts that collect lint. The rubber inner case doesn't allow lint to get into the phone, which is the most important thing for me at least. The seidio case I had always let lint and dirt/sand get inside the case and just grind around. I'm overall happy with the otterbox case.

Loving my Otterbox (commuter)!!!! makes the phone look very sleek and not bulky.

also, i f'ed up the screen protector. is there a way to wipe it clean and put it back on?

Yes. Don't wipe it. Just run the sticky side under some warm water to remove lint/debris. You may have to LIGHTLY rub stubborn pieces of dirt off with your fingertip as it's under the stream, but that's it. Shake it to get excess moisture off (small drops are ok, but you may have to squeegee them out; don't sweat it, they'll dry over time anyway).

Got my Otterbox yesterday, and think it's much better than my Innocase II. I had a pearl one on, and it started getting discolored by the microfiber bag I carry my Evo in, plus I didn't really like the jarring joint line across the back. I love the hole plugs on the Commuter. Only downside is: it is a little wobbly because of the fake metal-look band when it's on the kick stand.

Not really the case's fault, in my opinion. The cracks he got are on the screen. Regardless of what type of case you're using, if the phone is struck in such a way that the shock is transmitted to the glass, it MIGHT (and probably will) crack.

I dropped my first unprotected Evo from about 4 feet onto a brick and cement path. It bounced around a few times before coming to a rest on its screen. The phone had minor dings and scratches in several places around the case, but amazingly, the screen didn't get so much as a scratch...it was still flawless! From my experience, I decided to try a Seidio Innocase II, and now the Otterbox Commuter because I like its look better. Frankly, though, I know that EITHER of these cases will only protect the Evo from scuffs and scratches; the screen is a crapshoot any way you look at it.

If you look at the phone in that video, you'll notice that the corner isn't dented or scratched; the case did its job. Unfortunately, the force of the impact made it to the glass and cracked it...but it could have been worse (the cracks could have gone further).

Especially with thin profile cases like these, you're making a trade-off. Will the Defender do better? Perhaps, but I guarantee you'll still be hearing about people whose screens cracked even though their Evos were wearing a Defender when dropped. I haven't seen a case yet that I think could adequately dissipate impact forces away from the screen in every conceivable scenario.

Let me put it this way: anyone know of a case manufacturer that GUARANTEES a phone won't break or crack if you use their product? There's a reason they won't do that: even with the best of cases, the phone is still vulnerable.
