Otterbox Commuter and usb cable issue

So I purchased a bright green Otterbox Commuter and was quite in love, until I went to charge the phone.

If I use the factory charger it works just fine, but all of my usb cables ( for blackberry) and what not, the end is too thick to fit inside the otterbox case, so it doesn't go in far enough...so I have to find a way to modify the case without destroying it...any ideas?

I would modify the USB ends before I modified the case. I have the exact same case on both of my Gs3's...and we have a couple of USB cables that have a thicker end on them...but it's just plastic. All it takes is a razor knife and some shaving...cut the excess plastic away until it fits. You are only talking about a wire that's abou 18-20 AWG so it would take a lot of slicing before you hit any wires by cutting the ends anyway. 1) Don't cut down to the silver USB prong, obviously, and 2) don't cut down to the wires. I wouldn't do anything to the case, as the lifetime warranty will be VOID!! And no matter what you think, you need that warranty. I closed the hood of my 2001 Ford Expedition on my phone the other day, and cracked my otterbox case, (but didn't do **** to my phone, not even a scratch!!), and the warranty sent me another case no questions asked. Stupid of me to close the hood on my phone, but hey, crap happens. If u touch that case with a knife the warranty won't cover nothing. Not to mention the dust flap won't ever work right again, so you might as well cut it off if you do that...and you need the case to be in-tact to file any type of warranty (you might break the outer plastic shell, but it's highly doubtful you'll ever tear the plastic protective sleeve if the shell is on it properly.)

:)Just when I thought I wasn't a dip...thanks!

We all have our moments -- good case in point, did you happen to read about me closing a 200lb hood of my SUV onto my $199 GS3 that I just got 3 months ago? I really couldn't believe I did it...My mind was on worrying about my truck..I locked it into 4WD (because I NEVER use the 4WD on my Expedition...so I turned the switch to 4H, then put in 4L just to keep it working properly), and it got stuck in 4WD Low and wouldn't come out. So ...if this thing stays in 4Low, the fastest you can travel is about 5mph, and the 5.4L motor is revved up to about 3000RPM at 5mph.
So I was about ready to be sick, and was disconnecting my battery to reset the 4WD switches and computer...luckily this fixed it!! But I wasn't thinking "hey my phone was on the frame" when I slammed the hood, happy that I had solved the problem and got my 4WD back to normal AWD instead of 4Low....

I just knew when I popped the hood and went to grab my Gs3 that I would find it broken in half!! But..thanks to the Otterbox case....not even a ding anywhere on the phone!! The case was cracked, but the phone was just fine. That Otterbox just paid for itself about 5 times over..

Well,
That is something I would definitely do myself! Sometimes I can't believe my brilliance, and others, not so much!
