About 4 hours ago I put the otterbox defender on my brand new S7(10 minutes new). The screen protector is not making contact with the screen. It's loose and you can feel the space between the phone and the screen protector very easily. It's worse in the middle of the screen. I'm shocked because I've used this case with ALL MY other phones with no issue. It really makes typing difficult. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm typing without a case right now....

When was it released? I have ordered one for my GS7 and have had one for every Galaxy S device. I have never had this issue. Otterbox should ship out a new one. Try calling them.

This has been a very common problem with the defender series cases for a long time. I'd recommend what most people do and tear off the built in screen protector and install a good quality screen protector on your phone. I would wait on a tempered glass one until zagg comes out with their flexible glass. But in the meantime a install a zagg hd clear. No halo and.hd clarity. 🖒🖒

I called them the night i posted this and they are sending a replacement. I'll try and remember to update this post when the new one arrives in 5-7 days. If it isnt any better i may do what victoryrules8 suggested.

They're hit or miss. I ripped the one for my Note 5 out and used tempered glass. The one for my S7 is a lot better though and better quality than past defenders! Supcase has a better built in protector and the Poetic Revolution for my Note5 had an excellent built in protector and is a better case than Defender. When it comes out I will be ordering it!

ok, the new replacement from otterbox arrived yesterday and it's WAY better. still not happy about buying a dud otterbox but at least they fixed it.

On the flip side, the company is good about not charging for the replacement.

I've had the S7 Defender for about a month. My issue with it is the phone isn't as secure in the belt clip holster as my LG G2 was. This one can be lifted out with the tip of a finger, my LG actually snapped in tightly. I ordered a third party holster for it that works better but not as good as it should be. Both replacements from Otterbox are failures.

I bit the bullet and purchased a LifeProof case for my S7 and was planning to take out the built in screen protector and use my own but ive actually kept it in place and I'm happy with it. The response on the phone is actually very good. I was shocked

I got an Otterbox Defender when I got my phone, after a week the screen protector was so bad I did a warranty exchange for another one. This one was much better but still not perfect. A month ago I decided to try the Lifeproof case and I must say I am very pleased with it. I switch off between the two because I have them but the Lifeproof has been more of my daily driver,it's that good.

Does the life proof case come with a holster. A belt clip like the otterbox defender series do?

I had the same experience; started with the defender, but the built in screen protector not being flush made the phone a chore to use. I had a defender on my S5 and the screen sensitivity was great. I just decided on the LifeProof fre case and have been impressed so far. The built in screen protector works as expected. A little overkill on the water protection, but I'm a fan of piece of mind.

I hate using the defender for the simple fact the dust getting behind the screen protector. I just use a normal thin fitted case and screen protector now because it's just a cleaner look and doesn't drive me insane

I love the defender case but I always remove the screen protector as soon as I take it out of the packaging. If otterbox was smart they would just sell the case with a glass protector.

I would love to find a tempered glass protector that would go edge to edge and a slim case that would fit on it and not interfer. I have a samsung s7. any combo recommendations

I had the same problem with the Otterbox I just received 3 days ago for my Google Pixel 5". Thankfully, when I called about it, I also had an excellent experience with Otterbox customer service. They are sending a replacement. I loved the Otterbox Defender I had for my Galaxy S5, so I guess it is hit or miss. I will try to post again re the new one when I receive it. Thanks for posting on this originally and following up. I was really frustrated until I found this thread.

I believe Zagg is working on a glass screen protector that goes edge to edge, I took the plastic screen out of mine and put the regular zagg glass on it. So far no complaints, very little halo affect, mostly noticeable with screen off, on its not noticeable to me.

Update: Received replacement Otterbox for Pixel 5" today. It is better. I still think the screen protector on my Otterbox for the Galaxy S5 was tighter. This one still has a very slight bounce. However, this one is good enough where I will definitely keep it. Had a very good experience with Otterbox customer service.
