G5 dimensions: 5.88 x 2.91 x 0.29
G6 dimensions: 5.86 x 2.83 x 0.31

Very close, though it seems like there'd be a gap on the sides...big enough to cause the device to shift around a bit. Approximately 2 mm...and that's not even taking the camera, FPS, volume buttons and speaker into account. I'd be shocked if they were located precisely in line with the G5's.

It shifts on paper but in reality it's quite snug. The speaker is three quarters covered but doesn't seem to affect sound as much as you'd think. microphones are not covered. no gaps and no issues with cameras or FPS. It fits.

Heh. Glad I came across this thread this morning. Received a G6 yesterday, but haven't got a case yet. Wasn't looking forward to taking in to work until then.

But, the Otterbox (Defender? 2 pieces) from my G4 fits. Not perfect, but will tide me over for a couple of days.
