Over the air update this morning...

I dont know if anyone else notived this or not but before the update I notice about 1.75gigs of ram being available. Now its 1.59gigs. So something was added thats eating system resources. Ive also noticed my battery is dropping fast. When the phone booted about a hour ago after the update I had 50% life and now I'm at 41%. I havent been doing anything much. Removed a few apps and browsed to find feature updates.

The update appears to have affected the ability of the BT system in my car to see my contacts. I can still make and receive calls as well as being able to see call logs. I tried unpairing my GS3 as well as deleting and re-adding it. No joy.

Anyone else having texting issues? I can't make or receive texts now since the update. None have been received and all fail going out. I've powered phone off/on.

Anyone else having this issue?

Pull the battery for a hard reset. If this does not work you need to backup and restore your phone to factory settings.

It could be me but I think the connection to the network is a little better. Not that I ever really had an issue. But it seems faster and more more stable.

Did auto spell correction stop working for anyone else? Most probably don't care about it but I liked it for the auto punctuation (Yes, I have that checked too but that only adds a period). I have tried a hard reset but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to change the color scheme of emails?

OK...I could use some help here. On a rooted GSIII, has anyone had success doing a Temp.un-root with OTA Rootkeeper and installing this update????

I heard/read about the update and went into "about device" to update OTA. I can't remember what the message said but it didn't update.
My GSIII is rooted so my thought was that was the reason. Never occurred to me to "Temp.un-root" with OTA RootKeeper. I plugged my GSIII into Kies and updated that way.....MISTAKE!!!! I kept getting android.process.acore stopped working error message. F'ed up everything. Took me 2 hrs to install a back-up.
I'm good now but I'd like to get this update.
Anyone have suggestions?????
Will a Temp.un-root with OTA Rootkeeper let me update OTA.
I'm a BB convert and this stuff is different than what I'm used to.

I have the red Galaxy S3 through AT&T and still haven't gotten anything yet. I checked yesterday and it did the whole check again in 24 hours deal, so I just tried again and got the same message. Anyone else getting this?

actually not only this- but now it shows a preview of the text in the notification pane- with the name of who sent it also!

Now that the brightness adjustment has been removed from the browser, is there any way to set it to match the system brightness? My browser is now significantly darker than everything else.

I can't send txts either on my newly updated S3. All outgoing txts fail. Rebooting and battery pulls do nothing. Have not tried the factory reset yet but that doesn't sound like it is working either.

-UPDATE- Ok, I can send txts to SOME people but not others. Everything else seems to be working ok except for some apps no longer are able to use the LED notification like they used to. That is definitely secondary to the SMS issues, tho. Guess I will be heading into the AT&T store yet AGAIN today. UGH!!!

-UPDATE 2_ Yep, swapping the SIM card fixed the issues with not being able to send txt messages. This was a PIAN because it was the iPhone5 launch day so AT&T store was NUTTY.

Only thing having issues now is the keyboard. The auto-substitution setting under predictive text no longer works properly. Before the update if I would type something like "Isnt" it would automatically change it to "Isn't". Now it just had the suggestion in the bar above the keyboard but no longer changes it automatically. This is a HUGE pain in the butt. Anyone else seeing the same issue?

I had the same issue...kinda. I updated it and noticed that I had lost root, so I went and re-rooted it. That's when I started getting the error messaged. I found though that if you clear all contacts data everything is fixed. I have no idea why doing that works, but I did. I restored back to before the update and I'm good now. I think I'll wait for the JB update to really look into how to keep root with the update.

Same issue I had this morning. I rebooted and factory reset my phone. Neither worked. My wife took the phone to our local AT&T corp store. The rep owned the same S3 and the first question out of his mouth was, "did you take the update?". He had the same problem! According to the rep the update caused an issue and only replacing the SIM will resolve it.

He swapped my SIM out with a new one and all is well so far.

I have always been able to access the notification bar from the lock screen. The main thing i have noticed is the LED no longer works for most apps, which sucks.

I have a red GS3 and have not been notified of the update. And after reading some of these threads, I'm actually hesitant to install it. Once again, it appears there's more problems than benefits with the update.. Too bad Sammy and ATT can't get these things right.. My phone works fine with the CALG1 build and I think I'll keep it that way.

I did the update yesterday and I noticed one problem; e-mail. I noticed since the update the stock e-mail program now won't auto update/refresh. I have to manually tell it to retrieve my new e-mails.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?
