Has anyone attempted this? Will you need a custom kernel to achieve this? I wonder how they will compare to the Optimus V?

I think it's the same processor as the OV and is already overclocked. Yes, we need a custom kernel also.

I keep coming across this slider has a 800Mhz processer vs the old 600Mhz on the original V...LG doesnt even list this phone on their website! Seriously...?

Yeah LG isn't giving any publicity to this phone at all, though I got the Straight Talk version.

Hopefully there will be a way to overclock this phone further than 800 MHz

Oh there IS a way, but LG's kernel source for this phone is a bit....well...crippled. I managed to build the stock kernel once but subsequent builds fail for some unknown reason.

The problem better be with your setup because when YOU can't compile a kernel .... we have an issue lmfao.

It could be GCC 4.6 causing problems. I had to hack the LS670 source just to get the wifi module to compile, whereas 4.5 compiled it with zero issues.

Time to put my ProLiant dual Xeon server to good use and install an older LTS version of Ubuntu.

atta boy!! looking forward to it. Thanks Drew!

Not to revive a nearly month-old thread, but... Is there any hope of overclocking this phone being achieved? This is my first android phone, so I really don't understand most of these terms you guys are talking about.. lol

It has been tested, and any deviation of more than ~50mhz makes it unstable.

So to answer your question, no. There will not be a way to overclock this phone to a point where it would actually make a difference.
