Owners, is the 6P really a quality product?

I was considering starting a new thread for this but this is probably a better home for it because I'm going to admit it's very fanboyish and likely to invoke some equally strong opposite feelings that might get some people's blood flowing. Nevertheless it is my opinion and should be taken as such.

Speaking in general terms not special case uses, the Nexus 6p is really the only flagship to consider this year and well into next. Unless you need an Spen or a physical etc there's just no point in buying a Note, a Galaxy, a Moto or anything else because the Nexus 6p is better than all of them. Not in the hardware category because there are several well built phones this year in that respect. But the 6p's software crushes everything else because it has zero OEM or Carrier Ware and instant updates.

Name me one thing that any other phone offers that makes it better than the 6p:

Display quality? Sure the Note 5's is crisper but this isn't a 60" HDTV we're buying here.

Spen? Moto Active display/assist? etc? Those are niche items. If you really have a thing for them then more power to you, I'll never argue choice is bad for those people

OIS? Meh. Faint advantage by the vast majority of feedback so far

Battery life? The 6p's is already well regarded

CPU? Not a whisper of problems with the 810 on the 6p despite all the "OMG [insert phone brand here] has the 810 toaster oven, what a deal breaker" crowd that hasn't discovered those issues are resolved in the most recent phones with it

None of those trump not having to put up with bloatware, delayed updates, the exceptional design, performance, nexus Imprint, guaranteed security patches of the 6p. You could've had a good case to argue against the Nexus 5 or 6 the last 2 years. This year Google+Huawei crushed it. In fact there's really only two phones worth buying at the flagship level this year. You either buy a nexus 6p or an iPhone, the only difference being which OS you prefer. I'm actually glad Google abandoned trying to please the OEM's by not making Nexus too good like they did in the past. It's about time the OEM-Carrier update delays and bloatware were completely and utterly shamed into second place.

@andy: as far as your OP is concerned I advise you to go with your gut. You know in your gut the 6p is the best android phone on the market right now so spare yourself future buyer's remorse from your other choices and just go for it.

Nexus 6P the best android phone ever? Maybe

Well after a month of waiting for my 6P it finally arrived today from Google/project fi.

Well initially reports are right, it's an awesome feeling phone, and the screen itself is extremely nice, closest I've seen to a GS6 or Note 5.

I won't run through everything because a lot has been covered and said about this phone, great camera, great stock vanilla android UI, and just a really awesome experience when using this phone.

Well so much for the honeymoon!

I also have the bulge on the bottom and yes it's really annoying because I hate hardware problems of this sort that make it out of production. I'll call Google in the AM and have them send me out another one.

If the new one is missing this problem, it'll get my vote as one of the Best of 2015, most likely the best and I'll write this off as an early production issue.

I do hope you get a good replacement and for me the phone looks lovely but I have a funny feeling that this phone isn't going to be very durable I really hope I'm wrong but on the XDA forums there are quite a few owners whose phones are losing the anodised coating and some have a slight bend in the side casing, only slight but it is a worry so early on but I suppose time will tell on the durability.

Let's take a moment to look at how the historic king of quality control is faring in comparison.
Early iPhone 6s + 6s Plus buyers report Touch ID, 3D Touch, speaker + power problems | 9to5Mac

Now let's see what a Google search of iPhone 6S screen issues turns up
https://www.google.com/search?q=iphone+6s+defects&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=iphone+6s+screen+issues

Moral of the story? No matter what phone you choose, you're going to find these. The quantity of discussions about it will vary based on how popular that phone is on smartphone tech enthusiast forums. Samsung and Nexus phones get a lot of close attention on AC forums. On the other hand if you were to go down the the Xperia Z5 forum here on AC you might think it's nearly flawless due to the lack of discussion about issues, but the fact of the matter is that it's merely the lack of discussion period.

Totally agree with you there any product made whether it be phones, cars, televisions there will always be plenty of people who are experiencing issues, for me though I still feel the Moto X Style will be better for me as that Aluminium coating on the 6P is going to come off and I wouldn't want to put a case on a phone that size but I do wish the Style had the battery from the 6P as I do fancy that size battery :)

I have a Moto X Pure and before I got the 6p I loved it. Don't get me wrong it's a really good phone. Actually the front facing speakers are better on the Moto X Pure if you ask me. But the screen in the 6p is beautiful. TFT LCD compared to amoled. Amoled wins ever time. Also ambient display works like it should because of the amoled display on the 6p. I do miss the double twist for the camera and the double chop for the flashlight on the Moto X tho.

It's definitely a nice phone. I've just today sent my Moto X Style back. It was fine but not very exciting. The 6P I have has a slightly uneven screen tone but overall it is a much nicer device than the Moto X Style. Build quality is good but not quite as premium as my iPhone 6S Plus. The aluminium is a bit shiny for my taste. But no flaws that I can see apart from the screen variations.

Yeah it is a bit shiny. I don't mind it tho. It would have been nice to have had a fun metal grey like the HTC ONE M8.

The 6P looks like a really nice phone with the perfect UI

Is there an advantage to the usb 3? I really do not get the point. Kind of reminds me of how Apple endlessly changes charging plug formats.

So far for me the 6P is a quality product! No issues at all. Hope that remains the case for me and the majority of others.

The USB-C plug has the advantage of being reversible and should likely hold up much better than the old mini-USB plugs. Additionally, it is the new standard, and you will see new computers and peripherals start shipping with the USB-C type connectors; even Apple appears to be switching to USB-C (new Macbooks use USB-C). Additionally, USB-C allows fast charging using a generic standard that all USB-C devices should support, as opposed to the proprietary fast charge that other devices, using mini USB, have been using.

Thanks for the explanation. I wonder if it lasts longer than the usb 2 in my note 3...the last one with usb 2.

Nexus 6P is most premium Android device I ever had. My listed phones I have owned are HTC G1,HTC Thunderbolt, S3, HTC One S, and N5. I only had the One S for a week but that was by far best phone build quality wise I have owned. The Nexus 6P has heft that inspires confidence in hand as well the heft balance adding more to the quality of the device. The texture is soft and smooth but more solid then soft touch device. The color and silver trim feel good and look well crafted. The buttons are very tactile and light. The buttons may be ittle to light to the touch but that not quality issue but a preface issue. The bottoms plastic panel is poor quality because fact that it's plastic panel and the fit is not seamless. Their is some slight flex when push back of phone with your finger hurts quality of phone.
The phone's build quality is definitely premium and deserves all the credit it gets. I feel their are areas of device I wish they fixed. I wish the aluminum body was more ridge in the back and texture phone felt more metallic. Overall N6P build quality lives up to the hype.

Oh no just when I had made my mind up about getting the Style/Pure over the 6P you say you hate the LCD screen!!!! I was under the impression it is a great screen!

Mind you I haven't heard of many people not liking the Moto screen so I am sure I will like it, as the alternative is the 6P screen which seems to have a some colour issues of its own.

The Moto X Pure screen is not bad, but compared to the 6p it looks washed about just a bit. But if you never look at the to side my side you'll never know what you're missing.

Considering all of the reports of problems

Bending
Glass breaking
Finish scratching/flaking off
Microphone not working
Chargers failing
Screen defects

I'd say no, it is not a quality product.

Give me the actual numbers of these. I mean the actual people it happened to, SPECIFICALLY. Because I've seen all the reports you have and I count maybe a dozen who "claim" it "just happened by itself". Most of the time the stories going around are just repeats of the same people

Please nexus 6p owners tell me your opinion about the video that showed bending issue for the new nexus 6p.
İs it a real video or a fake one?
İs it easy to be bent like the iphone 6 plus?

Friend I don't think anyone is going to bend their phones just to answer your question. I think an internet search will give you a better answer. As for bending, I recently bought a graphite 6P and love the build. Though I have had to buy a silicone case for it, which imo looks really cool on the phone. The performance is snappy at all times, and I'm loving the camera, though haven't taken any videos on it yet. The fingerprint sensor is my first on any phone, and it is AMAZING! If you are thinking of buying this phone, you can't go wrong anywhere. For media, gaming, photography, getting work done or anything else I may use my phone for, this one ticks all the boxes. I say go for it!

This right here.

I have zero reason to use security on my phone but I use it now because the fingerprint sensor is nothing short of amazing. I have security and easier access than no security due to its simplicity.

As for the bending, stop worrying and buy a 6P! I have a Spigen Rugged TPU case and it feels great. The phone doesn't bend in NY pocket or during use. The video you watched was irregular use with strong force after heating up an area with fire. Compromising the quality with fire isnt a legit test.

Ask me in about 18 months if this is a quality product. My last two phones from Motorola lasted me at least 2 years. My original Moto X which I replaced with the 6 P still an excellent phone. The only reason I replaced it is because it was never going to get marshmallow. Let's revisit this thread at about this time next year and see if everyone is saying the Nexus 6p is a quality phone. So far, I love everything about it.

My first Huawei, TBH I've seen the other models but never really paid attention. Reminds me of LG before they released the nexus.

The quality is superb, well built. My phone of 2015.
