In light of the recent news, does anyone think that devices on older versions (I'm sitting on 9.1.0.138) will get updated to at least .162? ( I think that's the newest version). I get that they are now cut off from Google Services but if they've made the updates for some phones, you would think they would at least push to have all their phones at the same level. Maybe wishful thinking here.

If they've made the mods to the update (Google published the May update to manufacturers around April 8, and the June update around May 6), they'll probably push it - and publish it if you want to (and phone allows you to - I don't know Huawei) install it yourself. But after the June update, probably not.

You should get an update as Google as they have been given a grace period of 90 days:

So we should see a few software updates over the next few months as Huawei prepare for the ban and try negotiating.

Your existing device will not get cut off from Google services, unless Huawei releases new version of android after 90 day, example Android Q. However I think that they won't do that, they seems to be determined on waiting to finish their OS.

I however would prefer them using AOSP to make a version of EMUI on it and keep updating it when new version goes public. I dont mind waiting a few months.

there are ways to install these updates manually. Check the XDA forums for the OTG method.
