Hi. I started having this issue a couple weeks ago, using Chrome & Google Home page. I scroll down & select an article, but when I hit the back button it takes me back to the top of Google Home page instead of where I originally scrolled down to. It never worked like this before, since the phone was new. I've tried delete date & cache. I can't find a way to reset Chrome as was recommended. The issue seems to be with Google Home since it doesn't have this issue with other sites like Yahoo. Please help!!!

Welcome to Android Central! What version of Chrome are you on? I'm using 140.0.7339.51, and am not seeing that issue.

Ok, I figured out how to revert. Now I'm on version 134.0.6998.135 and the issue is gone. Now what lol?

It's strange that you were on 140.x.x.123, since I'm still on 140.x.x.51. Are you on the Beta?

No Beta. It looks to me like 123 is the latest ' 'stable' version. So how do I keep from applying the 123 update again? I'd like to be on the version right before that.

Turn off automatic updates in the Play Store for now and make sure not to accept any updates for Chrome. But in the meantime, send feedback to Google from within the Chrome settings.

I have this same problem on my 10 Pro XL. I also saw posts about it on Reddit and it is very annoying. Can't believe Google hasn't fixed this yet.

I let my Pixel 7 Pro update to Chrome 140.0.7339.208 but no joy,it still won't go back to the original scroll position. Uninstall updates and it works perfectly.
