After an hour and a half of having issues getting my dad's GS3 to pair with his Pioneer head unit, I finally found an app on the market called, "Bluetooth File Transfer".
The issue I was having wasn't getting the phone to pair with the head unit itself, but transferring the phone book. No matter what I did, it wouldn't pull it.
Finally, I found the app mentioned and it pushed the entire phonebook to the stereo in less than a minute and all is good.
I just thought I'd share this in case any of you are having similar problems. Perhaps it will spare you a headache.
