password protect gmail account

I'd like to let my kid play with our new Nexus 7 but don't want him to access my gmail account. Is there a way for a password prompt to display when you tap the gmail icon? Instead of just automatically logging in.

This worked. If he's gonna use Chrome you'll have to also make sure it's not set to auto login Google accounts.

IMO this functionality should be part of the OS.

I agree. It should be part of the setup process. Give the option to auto-login or password prompt.
