they take the payment once the device has shipped if you ordered with at&t.

probably the same policy, if not charged at the time on shipping then it could be upon delivery or activation.

Verizon will charge prior to shipping. This is a good indication that your device is being prepared for shipping. Doesn't mean shipping is immanent though.

If you pre ordered with Verizon I wouldn't be surprised if most don't get it until Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Verizon is going to ship on Friday, 2nd day with no Saturday delivery. Kind of impossible to get it this week if your Verizon but you can get it locally on Friday.

It's a chance you take but I've always been able to score a device on launch day.

Ditto and I buy them all...this one is actually for my kid. I am waiting on either a 32gb or dev model for myself. Friday morning I will walk into verizon and pick one up. Not a problem and never is.

I pre-ordered mine as well. I fell for the "Well it will probably ship earlier and you may receive it early..." line from my CSR. Coupled with my work schedule, I just wouldn't have had time to go to my local VZW store. If it doesn't come on Friday, the sun will still rise on Saturday...

I chose to spend 15 minutes or less ordering over the phone, compared to 30 - 60 minutes to wait, then get helped inside store.

How do you figure it takes that long? Walk in, pay full price, walk out. They don't set anything up - just pay and leave.

I pre-ordered mine from AT&T on March 21st. That weekend they had placed a hold on my account for $701.99, which has since been released. My phone has shipped today, and they have still not charged me for the phone yet. Not sure when it will go through, but I thought I would see the charge the same day as the phone was shipped

EDIT: I was finally charged today, the day the phone was delivered to me
