Been having a problem the past few days where my PC does not see the SD card when I put the phone in USB Storage mode. When I first flashed the stock GB ROM, my PC connected fine with the SD card but it has not worked since I rooted and have been trying different ROMs. If I put the SD card into an adapter, everything works fine. Any ideas?

I would think it has to be something with the kernels... Kernels overall control these things and maybe there is a bug in the main modified source they are playing with among the various kernels...

Edit: Have you tried just for the heck of it Ed, to install PDAnet on your device and computer.. I'm not sure how well it works for the Epic 4g but its like a life line on NS4G... I had issues with Win 7 finding my NS4G in the beginning then I installed PDAnet to aid in the drivers and controlling the USB connection and its works flawless since...

I had totally forgotten about PDAnet...I used to use that with my old Palm Treo.

Unfortunately, the PDAnet USB driver install hangs as soon as I plug in my Epic. Not sure what the problem is but I did try hooking up my wife's NS4G to my laptop and it works fine. So, as you said, it must be a kernel issue.

That blows.. I'm not positive on the kernel part but its a fair guess on my part seeing how the kernel is the controller of all that type of stuff among many other things...

The same thing happend with my epic. I took it down to the sprint store and the guy there said that when I rooted it it put it into modem mode. Dialing ##7887# should take it out of modem mode and allow you to connect to pc. Hope this helps out.

Thanks for the reply. I did try the ##7887# but no luck.

sometimes it could be as simple as trying a different cable, have you tried that yet?

Yep, I have tried a few cables, different USB ports and a different laptop. Something really got screwed up on my Epic.

I am going to flash back to stock today and see if that fixes things (hopefully).

You need to enter ##8778# on the dialpad and then make sure PDA is selected under USB and not Modem.

I flashed back to stock EI22 and the USB problems are gone. I have since flashed ACS ICS and USB access is still working so I don't know where things got screwed up.

Thanks for your post...I will try that fix if I have this problem again.

Argggh... Your stressing me out Ed.....

LOL.. J/K... Glad you got it resolved.
